Local Content Creator Alleges Subang Jaya Baby Store Scams Customers

If you’re an expecting parent, you’ve probably started shopping for all the necessary items for your young one. However, for one mother, the excitement of receiving her item turned into anger after the store she shopped from started acting up.

The mother, local content creator Afifah Azam, took to Twitter to detail her experience of getting scammed by a baby store called Baby Dots. In the Twitter thread, she shared more information about the store, their scams and how she filed a claim to get her money back. Afifah, also known as Fifa, said that she found the store while shopping online for baby items and believed them to be legit because it had a physical outlet in Subang Jaya.

Fifa then contacted the store via Instagram to make a purchase, saying they replied rather quickly at the beginning. However, after making the payment, the replies got slower and after a week of ordering, there were almost no updates. Upon looking at the reviews for the store showing other customers sharing the same experience, the mother then realised the store had scammed her.

Shockingly, despite ignoring customers’ enquiries, Baby Dots posted about a closing down sale, which Fifa believes is a tactic to cheat more people. In hopes of getting her money back, the influencer lodged a report with the Tribunal for Consumer Claims and Atome, the financing app she used for her purchase. She also revealed that she left a review on Google, but the store had hidden it and added fake ones to increase their ratings.

The expecting mother also shared messages that she received from other customers who were cheated by the store. One customer claimed she ordered a stroller but did not receive her item. Even after pressuring the store, she only got a fake tracking number for her order. It was said that Baby Dots disabled their comment section on their social media after dissatisfied customers started calling them out.

Many netizens have responded to the thread, mostly showing support for Fifa and other customers. Some also shared their experience with the store, acknowledging that the store had been problematic for a while. However, one mother said she had no issues when she shopped at the store last year but added that she had shopped at the physical store before they closed down.

As of reporting, Baby Dots has yet to address any of the allegations, but Fifa has urged customers who haven’t received their orders to file a claim with the Tribunal or lodge a report with authorities.
