Many fans would dream of being roommates with their favourite celebrities. However, “Stranger Things” star Gaten Matarazzo’s revelation about his living situation with co-star Finn Wolfhard would change everyone’s mind.
The 23-year-old recently appeared on the “Dinner’s on Me” podcast, where he talked with host Jesse Tyler Ferguson about the last season of the Netflix series, his career so far and living with cleidocranial dysplasia (CCD). At one point in the episode, Gaten also shared what it was like being roommates with castmate Finn Wolfhard.

Gaten revealed that he and Finn lived together for roughly a year while filming the fifth and final season of “Stranger Things”. However, the actor quipped that their shared living space quickly became disarray, saying, “It was a little bit of a college experience. I would look around three months after we lived together and (be) like, ‘This place is disgusting.’”
The star explained that their close friendship, unfortunately, was the reason for the “disgusting” living situation. Gaten said, “We match each other’s energy a little bit. We got along so well and had been so close for so long that we didn’t really hold each other to a standard. So we were like, ‘Ah, f**k it. Whatever, man. We’ll get to it later.’”
The duo only got a “wake-up call” once they had to make plans during filming breaks. Gaten recalled, “We would plan to go out, and somebody would be like, ‘Alright, we’ll meet you at yours. Both of us would be like, ‘No. Do not come 10 feet (of) our home.’” Thankfully, after that, the two friends managed to keep their place tidy until the end of their tenure as roommates.

While it wasn’t all smooth sailing, Gaten said living with Finn was a good experience. He said, “When you’re moving in with one of your best friends, you never know if you’re going to live together well, that could ruin friendships. It ruins a dynamic. If you’re mature enough, you can be like, ‘This isn’t working for us, so for the sake of our friendship, we should end this.’ (But) It was great.”
Fortunately, Gaten and Finn survived their roommate situation and remained friends. Meanwhile, “Stranger Things 5” has been receiving rave reviews from fans and critics alike and even crashed the Netflix website with overwhelming traffic.
