Every artist has unreleased songs that either never made the final cut or weren’t ready to be shared publicly. Our nation’s Biduanita Negara, Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza, also has a few songs in her “vault” that she is open to releasing to the public someday.
Earlier in the month, there were reports that Suria Records (SRC) still holds about 11 unreleased Siti Nurhaliza songs recorded while she was under the company. The singer left the recording company in 2005 following the expiration of her contract. In a recent interview, Siti, fondly called TokTi, acknowledged the existence of these tracks, saying she often records more songs than needed for her albums.

When asked whether she or SRC has plans to release the 11 “vault” tracks, the 46-year-old said she’s open to working with her former label to make that a reality. However, she noted that the music might sound different since she recorded tracks over two decades ago. Siti said, “The situation now is different, and my voice has also changed. If the fans liked my old singing style, they might be able to accept (the old songs).”
Siti also said she could easily re-record the songs, but noted that the decision ultimately falls on SRC. She explained, “If I’m asked to re-record the songs, discussions would be needed, as the recording takes time.” At the same time, Siti also clarified that she has no objection if SRC decides to offer the unreleased songs to other artists, noting that the label owns all the copyrights.

For those curious, Siti Nurhaliza signed with SRC in 1995 after winning “Bintang HMI 1995” and later released her first studio album, “Siti Nurhaliza I”, on 1st April 1996. While under SRC, the star released 10 full-length albums, several compilation albums and multiple non-album singles. However, it’s unknown when the star recorded the 11 unreleased songs or which album they were for.
Funnily enough, TokTi admitted that she doesn’t remember what the 11 unreleased songs sound like. What are your thoughts on this? Would you listen to the 11 “vault” tracks?
