Spotting a big-time celebrity at a restaurant isn’t uncommon, but it’s still surprising to find them at a humble street stall or mamak joint. Recently, a fan came across Mandopop icon JJ Lin (林俊杰) chilling alone at a hawker centre in Singapore.
In the post dated 2nd March 2025 (Sunday), a Singaporean fan revealed they met JJ Lin by chance while at a hawker centre. The fan said they spotted the star having breakfast by himself, ordering a cup of coffee and a portion of steamed rice cake. As shown in the photo, the star seemed very relaxed, wearing a grey short-sleeved t-shirt, black shorts, and a baseball cap. Notably, there was no bodyguard or assistants with the star.
The post also revealed that JJ Lin sat at the hawker centre for quite some time, chilling at his table while playing with his mobile phone. The post quickly went viral, with many envying the fan for being able to meet the singer. Others were also surprised to learn that a world-renowned star like JJ Lin would casually visit a hawker centre. Some jokingly asked what game the singer was playing on his phone.
The photos also earned JJ Lin praise for his humble personality. However, some fans noted that this isn’t the first instance of JJ Lin’s down-to-earth side. When the star was in Kuala Lumpur, he was known to quietly visit restaurants and cafes, not attracting too much attention to himself. He also appeared to be very friendly with fans, often interacting with them and taking photos when they meet him in public.
On a related note, JJ Lin recently announced his upcoming KL concert. The “JJ20 FINAL LAP in Kuala Lumpur” show is scheduled for 10th May 2025 (Saturday) at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium. The concert is part of the singer’s record-breaking “JJ20” tour, celebrating the star’s two-decade-long career. Tickets will be available on the BookMyShow Malaysia website from 11th March 2025 onward.
Perhaps when JJ Lin is in KL for his upcoming concert, fans will stand a chance to catch him at a local mamak or kopitiam.
