Sick Of Mamak? Here Are 10 Super Supper Joints In The Klang Valley!

by Abia
April 12, 2023

Feeling pesky hunger in the wee hours? Not sure where to go or what to eat? Let us aid you in satisfying your cravings!

If you’re a student or just a regular night owl, you’d probably understand how it feels to have few options when it comes to buying food after dinnertime. No matter how hard you try to come up with creative ideas for late-night eating places, it always comes down to two options: mamak stalls and McDonald’s. But it’s not like you’re gonna be in the mood for mamak and McDonald’s all the time, right?

So, we’ve got a few supper spots in the Klang Valley we think you should try for a change to satisfy your midnight cravings.

Nasi Lemak Bumbung

Citizens Journal

The location of Nasi Lemak Bumbung in a narrow passageway between former commercial buildings gives patrons a distinctive dining experience. You get to enjoy hanging out with friends while eating Nasi Lemak with generous amounts and thick, delectable house-special Sambal – with the night sky serving as your bumbung (roof).

The nasi lemak sold here is really affordable and it’s impossible to find a nasi lemak stand that serves good nasi lemak – and charges fair costs. Also, a large number of consumers frequent this stall due to its heart-poundingly excellent sambal petai nasi lemak. The shopkeepers also give their patrons a warm welcome in an effort to facilitate easy buying and selling. Another favourite dish over here is the traditional Maggie Goreng.

Location: 6, Jalan 21/11b, Sea Park, 46300 Petaling Jaya, Selangor

Time: 4pm to 12am

Damascus

After a long day of shopping in Bukit Bintang, you’ll want to grab a quick bite – but alas, all the restaurants are closed. No worries. Nothing compares to the flavour of a warm, toasty shawarma while stargazing in the heart of the metropolis – and Damascus affords patrons just that. It closes at 4am, allowing you plenty of time to relax and take pleasure in watching delicious meat being removed from the substantial rotisserie. Not only that, Damascus is the go-to shawarma spot in the area even though there are a few others around.

Location: 111, Jln Sultan Ismail, Bukit Bintang, 50250 Kuala Lumpur

Time: 8am to 4am

Al-Rawsha

With three locations in the Klang Valley, including one in KL that is open till midnight, Al-Rawsha will satiate the greatest hunger with its wide variety of food, sweets, and beverages. They have different types of rice, chicken, curries and more. A must-try here are dishes featuring lamb, which are said to be succulent and tender.

This modest canteen is a chill place for customers to unwind and enjoy dinner till as late as 3am, because it has a roomy outdoor dining space with a view of the Petronas Twin Towers. Many food vendors can be found here serving a variety of cuisines, including our favourite Shellout sets, Japanese food, Western dishes, Arab cuisine and more! The interior design of this restaurant is undeniably Instagrammable, and includes exposed brick walls and translucent awnings that let natural light brighten the area and allow customers to see the stars at night.

Location: Jln Datok Abdul Malik, Kampung Baru, 50300 Kuala Lumpur

Time: 5pm to 2am (during Ramadan)

OHO Mookata & Bar

Mookata eateries offer the best of both worlds if your notion of a satisfying dinner is steamboat or barbecue. So, if you’re craving just that, then OHO Mookata is the place for you. OHO Mookata & Bar offers a variety of dining options, including an open-air dining area, a bar with a lifestyle beach motif, cosy interior premium dining, and private dining rooms with a full karaoke sound system. It also touts the most authentic Thai cuisine available. Thai appetisers and sweets are available at OHO Mookata & Bar in addition to sets and a la carte dishes. To begin your mookata experience, select a beginner’s set, your soup base, and any add-on items you might wish to have with your mookata.

Ye Xiao Canteen

A post shared by Mama Mee 泰国海鲜妈妈面 夜宵食堂 (@yexiaocanteen)

In English, Ye Xiao Canteen translates to “supper canteen”. And we think that the moniker is entirely clever, because who doesn’t enjoy indulging in instant noodles as a late-night treat? Together with meatballs, shrimp, and sizable freshwater prawns, they serve their famed Thai Tom Yum Mama Mee. But be informed that the kitchen closes at 12:30am. You can check out other branches if you prefer a longer dine-in period.

Setapak: Friday to Wednesday, 5:30pm to 11:30pm (Closed on Thursdays)
PJ SS2: Daily, 6:15pm to 1am
Cheras Taman Yulek: Daily, 6pm to 1am
Kepong Baru: Daily, 5:30pm to 1am
Puchong: Wednesday to Monday, 6pm to 1am (Closed on Tuesdays)

Bones TTDI

Burgers are among the best late-night treats, so we couldn’t leave out this treasure. At Bones Burger TTDI, the beef burgers are renowned for being flavourful and juicy. The Tomato & Savoury Onion jam on the Original Burger became popular because it is so delicious. Moreover, variants with BBQ Tabasco Sauce and Creamy Caesar Sauce are available. To create the ideal burger for you, you can add beef strips, a unique lamb patty, pineapple, and more. Also, you’ll notice their enticing-looking fluffy, shining buns.

This hipster night spot is the place to be if you don’t want to limit your dinner to a single sort of food. If you want a wide variety of street cuisine and a wonderful outside dining atmosphere at night, go to Tapak Urban Street Dining. This open air carpark is located next to Corus Hotel at Jalan Ampang. During the day, it’s a regular parking spot, but once the sun sets, this place is filled with food until 12 in the morning! You’ll find row and rows of food trucks, tents, chairs, tables, and all sorts of food to choose from. What better way to enjoy a late night dinner than this?

Location: Persiaran Hampshire, off, Jalan Ampang, Hampshire Park, 50450 Kuala Lumpur

Mee Tarik Restoran

A post shared by Hungrybabes ❤️ (@hungrybabes)

Mee Tarik Restoran is the spot to head for if you ever find yourself in downtown Kuala Lumpur after midnight. There will likely be a line outside this Chinese-Muslim eatery because it gained popularity on TikTok sometime last year. It can be reached by public transportation – it’s just three minutes away from the MRT Pasar Seni!

With its distinctive Mee Tarik (hand-pulled noodles) served in beef soup with tender beef chunks, Mee Tarik Restaurant is quite unique. If you enjoy spicy food, mix some of their fried chilli oil into the noodles. Along with true Chinese-Muslim fare like Mee Tarik, you can also find grilled beef skewers, chicken wings, and steamed or fried dumplings.

Location: 36, Jalan Sultan, City Centre, 50000 Kuala Lumpur
