As one may have already anticipated, when there’s a big upcoming concert in Malaysia, there will always be scalpers. Yesterday (Tuesday, 16th May), Coldplay tickets were being sold quicker before you can even refresh the page to reserve a seat.

Some were lucky enough to purchase these tickets while others are using this opportunity to make easy money by reselling the tickets at double, maybe even triple the original price! Here’s what we found so far:

To recap, last week, LiveNation announced the ticket prices for the Coldplay “Music of the Spheres” concert. The tickets are priced from RM3,088 (Ultimate Experience), RM2,108 (My Universe), RM1,258 (Higher Power), RM1,288 (CAT 1), RM758 (CAT 2), RM658 (CAT 3, STANDING), RM598 (CAT 4), RM498 (CAT 5), RM398 (CAT 6), RM228 (CAT 7).

Based on the photos above, some scalpers have bought the concert tickets to resell them at much higher prices on unauthorised third-party platforms such as Carousell and Viagogo. The most expensive tickets being resold on Carousell were the My Universe tickets for 4 pax at RM20K which is basically your entire student loans! One scalper even tried to resell their 1 Ultimate Experience on Viagogo at RM10K!

Coming back to Carousell, some of the CAT 3 (Free-Standing) tickets are being sold from RM800 to RM2K, as seen in the screenshots above. The ones being sold on Shopee aren’t as expensive as they went slightly above the original prices. However, they are still not worth buying as fans will be the ones to face the consequences.

Shortly after the ticket price announcement, LiveNation advised fans to avoid purchasing tickets from unauthorised third-party websites saying, “The validity of the tickets cannot be guaranteed, with no refunds possible. We shall not be held responsible for any such purchases through unauthorised channels”.

Unless you’re okay with losing a few thousand ringgit from your bank account, it’s best to purchase the tickets from the official LiveNation or GoliveAsia website. The tickets may be expensive but you’re at least guaranteed to enter the venue to watch the band perform live.
