Imagine our surprise when the first thing we saw this morning was the shocking new of the death of Aaron Carter. As many of you may know, he’s the younger of Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter.

TMZ was one of the first to break the news, stating that the singer and rapper was discovered dead in his home in Lancaster, California. The Los Angeles County police arrived at the scene after receiving a report that a man had drowned in a bathtub.

A representative from his team confirmed his death. “Right now it’s a really bad time, we’re trying to figure out what happened and what the cause of it was,” they said. “We’re just as upset as everyone and hope that fans can give thoughts and prayers to his family.”

Aaron found fame at an early age as a pop star and television personality in the 90s. He released his first album when he was only 9. His next album “Aaron’s Party (Come and Get It)” tripled his first album’s sales and went on to sell 3 million copies. Having a famous brother helped, as he got to open for the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears’ on the “Oops!… I Did It Again” tour.

As he got older, Aaron dabbled in acting, making appearances in “Lizzie McGuire”, “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” and “7th Heaven”. He also acted in a few Broadway productions (“Seussical the Musical”, “The Fantasticks”) and reality shows (“Dancing With The Stars” and “House of Carters”, which starred him and his siblings).

Throughout the years, Aaron has made multiple headlines from substance abuse, drugs possession, reckless driving, and more. Last year, he welcomed his son Prince in November 2021. Following his unexpected death, baby mama Melanie Martin issued a statement that she’s currently “in the process of accepting this unfortunate reality” and added, “Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated“.

Fellow celebs in the industry have also paid tribute to Aaron including ’90s popstars New Kids on the Block, “One Tree Hill” alum Tyler Hilton, actress Melissa Joan Hart, actress Christy Carlson Romano, award-winning songwriter Diane Warren, comedian Loni Love and “American Housewife” alum Bruno Amato. Fans have also been reminiscing what a huge impact Aaron made during their teenage years.

RIP Aaron Carter

34 is way too young, and the news is heartbreaking. Thanks for the memories, and I hope his family can find peace. pic.twitter.com/mX1sAMVwP0

To quote a fan, this is truly heart breaking and we too hope his family can find peace. In case you didn’t know, one of the other Carter siblings – Leslie – passed away from drug overdose back in January 2012 at the age of 25.
