South Korean rapper Owen Ovadoz (오왼) is receiving backlash after making sexual comments directed towards ITZY‘s (있지) Ryujin (류진).
The 29-year-old has been involved in a number of controversies before, so it’s not so surprising seeing him caught up in yet another one. This controversy started after Owen responded to a comment that was directed at him online.
The original comment stated, “Honestly, I think our Ryujin unnie‘s rap is better than yours…” The Korean rapper then replied, “Yup. Her rap was conceived and birthed by my sperm.” The comment that disrespected ITZY’s Ryujin has in turn created an uproar from MIDZYs (ITZY’s fandom).
Korean netizens left comments expressing their disgust to his response, even after Owen’s comment was deleted. Moreover, they even accused the rapper of sexual harassment for the remark he made about Ryujin.
Owen himself has been involved in another sexual harassment controversy in the past. In one of his Instagram live sessions, he stated how he, “can’t stand white b**ches. I want to rape them.”
The Korean rapper was previously involved in a marijuana controversy when his drug usage was revealed to the public. As a result, Owen had to drop out of the Korean rap competition series titled “Show Me the Money” (쇼미더머니), where scenes of him were edited out of the programme.
That’s not the end to his past controversies, as the rapper got into bigger backlash after negatively commenting on the Black Lives Matter movement when he was live streaming on Instagram. Owen rudely questioned why must he acknowledge the hardships black individuals face.
Even though he knew what the movement was, he stated that he doesn’t “give a f**k”. “I’m still making money. Say I’m canceled, say I’m canceled. There’s nothing you can do about it,” the rapper continued.
As of now, Owen has remained silent due to the numerous controversies he stirred up. The Korean rapper did apologise for his past comments, but he hasn’t made a statement regarding what he said about Ryujin from ITZY just yet.
