Before he ventured into a successful solo career, Malaysian rapper Joe Flizzow was one-half of the hip-hop duo Too Phat. Now that former groupmate Malique has returned to the social media scene, is the duo ready to reunite?
Recently, local media met up with Joe, whose real name is Johan Ishak, at an event in Kuala Lumpur, where he spoke about a potential Too Phat reunion after Malique’s sudden return. For those unaware, the rapper recently opened a public Instagram account after spending years away from the spotlight. The sudden move also prompted the discussion that Malique might be preparing to release new music.

In response to the reunion rumours, Joe said nothing has been set in place, but he is open to working with his former teammate again. However, the 45-year-old also said the decision to reunite as Too Phat ultimately falls in Malique’s hands. He added, “I’m open to collaborating with him, even if I only get paid RM1. Or don’t get paid at all, I don’t mind. Even if I’m the one who has to pay, I’ll still do it.”.
The “Havoc” rapper also revealed that he has received many offers to perform with Malique, with more offers coming in after the latter opened his Instagram account. Unfortunately, the duo has no plans to perform together anytime soon. Despite that, Joe said it would be a big deal for the hip-hop community if Malique returned to the music scene, noting that many fans missed his voice and stage presence.
In the meantime, Malique has been actively posting on his new Instagram account, @/maliqueibrahimqarma. However, his posts appear to be random snapshots of his daily life without much context. The lack of captions also doesn’t help to decipher the pictures. Regardless, fans are still happy to see the rapper active on social media after years of not getting any updates.
Even if a Too Phat reunion isn’t confirmed yet, it’s already highly anticipated, especially among hip-hop fans. Would you tune in if Joe Flizzow and Malique get back together?
