When Malaysians woke up on Saturday (6th August) morning to find out that Pokémon GO was already available in the country, a frenzy ensued.
Hoards of people could be seen walking alone or in groups with smartphones in hand, hunting for Pokémon. Public places were packed, as many rushed to Pokémon and PokéStop-infested areas to score some rare creatures.
However, they’re not the only one going into a frenzy, as eateries are trying to up each other with their Pokémon GO-related promotions. And well, we’re not complaining, as we’re the ones (yes, we play Pokémon GO too!) who will benefit from it, right?
Here are 7 restaurants that will lure you in with their attractive promotions:
1. Battery Acid Club
Wanna get 10% off your meal at Battery Acid Club? That’s easy. Just catch any (and we mean ANY, even if its a common Rattata or Pidgey) Pokémon in the restaurant and you’re good to go! But remember to switch on your AR (augmented reality) function and screenshot it so that the staff there can confirm your claims.
The offer is valid for the whole month of August.

2. BurgerLab
No matter if you’re walking around trying to hatch your eggs or to catch some rare Pokémon, it is best to always keep yourself hydrated. BurgerLab is offering you a soda for only RM1, and all you have to do is open your Pokémon GO app and show it to the cashier. The best thing is, all 4 BurgerLab branches are PokeStops, so prepare to whip out your phone and get yourselves some Pokémons!
The offer started on Monday (8th August) and will end on Sunday (14th August).

Magikarp has always been touted as one of the more useless Pokémon by trainers, with many catching the water-type Pokémon only because of its evolved form. Not anymore though, as Tokyo Kitchen is offering 30% off their salmon sashimi if you show them that you’ve successfully caught a Magikarp.
The promotion is only valid while stocks last, though we’re not sure what the restaurant meant by that.

If you’re ever in Jaya One, remember to drop by Fēst, as they will be slashing RM1 off every food item on your receipt as long as you show off your trainer profile. Also, Jaya One is one of the most popular Pokémon GO hotspots, as it is filled with PokéStops and an array of Pokémon.
No word on how long this promotion will last.

5. Ploy Publika
Ploy Publika is inviting you to “ploy” with your food when you’re enjoying their Asian-fusion cuisine. Customers who manage to catch any Pokémon while dining at the restaurant will be able to enjoy a 10% discount off their food bill and get a free dessert of the day. As if that’s not enough, you’ll be able to enjoy a glass of ice cold beer for only RM8.80 nett. Customers have also commented that there are many Pokémons and a PokéStop nearby.
The promotion is valid while stocks last.

6. Barfly Publika
After enjoying a meal at Ploy Publika, you can just hop over to Barfly, which is located at the same mall. Touting themselves as a “Poké-friendly hangout spot”, the bar will be handing out Pokémon-inspired cocktails when you catch any Pokémon in the outlet. Just show the bartender your catch and you’ll be able to enjoy 1 of the 4 custom made cocktails – Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, or Pikachu.
The offer will start this Friday (12th August) and will last ’til 26th August.

7. Viña del Rey
Are you a fan of wine? Then enjoy a drink or 2 in Viña del Rey while undergoing your journey to be a Pokémaster! For those who show their Pokémon GO app to the waiters/waitresses, a 10% discount will be given for their 1st bottle of wine, and an additional 15% will be offered for any 2nd bottle.
The offer is valid until 1st September.

Did you know that you can also enjoy RM5 off your GrabCar (Economy) rides to selected PokéStops? In addition, Sunway Pyramid and Pavilion KL will also be activating lure modules at selected timings at the respective malls throughout the week.
Pokémon GO was launched in Malaysia on 6th August, exactly one month after its initial launch in Australia and the US.
