Car enthusiasts are always eager to see the latest releases, and Perodua’s upcoming eMO-II model is no exception. A few days ago, the company posted a teaser for the new vehicle, which it describes as the future of mobility. The car will be unveiled at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2024, which will be held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) from 5th to 11th December.
However, fans of the Perodua brand won’t have to wait until then, as a special preview of the eMO-II model was held today (Wednesday, 4th December), giving some lucky attendees a first look at the prototype. Although details about the vehicle remain limited, here’s what we know so far:

According to various reports, the new Perodua eMO-II is an electric vehicle (EV) expected to be released in 2025. The company’s CEO, Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad, has indicated that the model will be priced between RM50,000 and RM90,000. This pricing aligns with a previous statement from the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, which confirmed that they would support Perodua in producing Malaysia’s first EV priced under RM100,000.
The design of the futuristic car is similar to that of a Myvi since both models came with a compact hatch so this model could be the new Myvi for the masses. Speaking of masses, Perodua said that they aim to produce about 500 eMO-II units per month starting next year. However, a date of production was not specified. One of the key design features of the EV is the chequered ‘songket’ pattern, which can be found in the headlights, taillights, side skirts, rear windscreen, and glass roof.
It is said that the EV boasts a range of about 400km and is equipped with a CATL-sourced LFP battery with a capacity of around 50kWh. When asked about a possible battery-swapping system, Perodua said that there still looking into how to make it possible. Even if it wasn’t doable, the CEO reassured that drivers would not need to worry about battery life as the company has plans to provide more EV charging stations every 40 to 50 kilometres.

While we wait for the official launch next year, let’s take a look at the latest preview of the Perodua EMO-II:
