Last week, a couple had their privacy violated after a hotel housekeeper almost barged into their room while they were sleeping naked. Thankfully, they double-locked the door so the staff didn’t manage to enter. But a locked door won’t necessarily stop anyone from breaking in.
Only a few days apart, one hotel guest had someone entering her room while she was sleeping. Meanwhile, another witnessed firsthand someone trying to break into their room with a long metal rod. Here’s what happened:
Facebook user Doreen Loo posted on her page about her recent experience staying at Avante Hotel in Petaling Jaya. According to the Penang-born woman, she had just arrived back from Japan at 6am, and decided to rest up for the day before her next flight back home in the evening. What happened next left her terrified and traumatised.
The insurance manager claimed to have been sleeping with the doors locked when she was suddenly awakened by the sound of someone breaking into her room. The intruder immediately ran away after noticing the guest had woken up. Frightened by the encounter, the guest packed her bags and checked out, but not before filing a report to the hotel management.
A few days later, the hotel informed Doreen that it was actually a hotel staff that had entered her room without following proper procedure. According to the email she received, the staff apparently had mistaken the room to be unoccupied and left immediately after realising there was a guest in the room. The staff has been suspended and the hotel offered her compensation for the unpleasant experience.
If you thought Doreen’s experience was terriying, @kiraaku7 posted a video on TikTok to show that someone was trying to open a hotel room door by sliding a long metal rod underneath the door. As seen in the video posted below, the perpetrator presumably was unaware that the guest was still in the room as they continuously tried to use the tool to unlock the door.
The guest quietly blocked the crook’s numerous attemps by placing their hand on the rod so that it didn’t reach the door handle. Moments later, the culprit left after failing to break into the room. There is no information on which hotel this incident took place nor did the poster gave an update on what happened afterwards.
