The 2023 viral hand-pulled noodle chain, Biang Biang Noodle Bar, recently announced the closure of its final outlet at REX KL. In a heartfelt Instagram post, the noodle bar revealed that it will close on 31st March 2025, marking the end of the franchise.

If you’ve never heard of them, Biang Biang Noodle Bar went viral for its belt-like noodles, which were marketed cleverly and got them trending on social media. Their first outlet, located in SS2, was closed down after facing management problems and a rebranding of their REX KL outlet to Mee Biang Biang showed a further downhill slope for the company.

The post on their Instagram reads, “Yes, we are here because we encountered two critical challenges in any industry: lack of experience and choosing the wrong partner.” Going for a completely transparent approach to their closure, they further explained that their organisation had no proper food waste management and SOP, as well as having complaints about bad customer service and inconsistency in the texture and taste of their food.

Rather than facing the regular backlash, netizens responded positively to the post, with some applauding the company’s honest approach. Instagram user (@/__vicchella) comments, “Sad news but kudos to the honesty. A big step forward by acknowledging their mistakes. Wish them well in their next chapter”. More positive comments flood Biang Biang’s Instagram post, with most encouraging the brand to come back stronger in the future.

The closure of Biang Biang Noodle Bar is a reminder for companies to exercise some means of transparency in their organisation to connect with their consumers on a deeper level. “We were young, wild and free, now we learn and grow”, reads Biang Biang’s post. You will be missed!
