Yellow Brick Road expands into Chinatown with fresh, playful interpretations of dishes locals already adore. It’s a joyful new outpost that stays true to the brand’s spirit while embracing a bolder creative edge.

Kuala Lumpur’s love affair with proper British fish and chips gets an exciting new contender with Battered, now operating from REXKL. Run by two brothers from Hull, the stall focuses on doing one thing exceptionally well: fish and chips made the traditional way. Expect a generous fillet encased in a crisp, shattering batter while the fish inside stays tender and flaky. Thick chips, mushy peas, and all the classic trimmings round out the experience.

  • Address: 80, Jalan Sultan, City Centre, 50000 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur
  • Operating Hours: 12pm – 10pm; Closed on Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays

Alta marks a thrilling return for fans of the once-beloved Sitka, carrying forward its legacy with fresh energy and a renewed sense of creativity. While it stands as a new opening, the spirit of its predecessor lives proudly in its modern, well-crafted plates. When you finally take your seat, the must-order is its kimchi rarebit flatbread with whipped ricotta and hot honey, an irresistible combination of comfort and nostalgia.

After warming up with samgyetang, cool down with a scoop of tofu-based gelato from Modu’s sister brand, Tofu G. This dessert concept focuses on clean, intentional flavours with eight gelato options, including vegan-friendly and dairy-free choices. Among the highlights are two Malaysia exclusives, pomegranate and matcha, alongside standouts like the original tofu gelato and the ultra-creamy pistachio.

  • Operating Hours: 11am – 11pm

6. Firewood KLCC

Penang’s popular steakhouse has finally landed in Suria KLCC, and Firewood is making a bold entrance. The brand brings its signature open-fire cooking to KL, where steaks and grilled proteins take centre stage, beautifully charred and packed with flavour. Don’t overlook the starters and sides, the charcoal-burnt Caesar salad and charred white sweet corn are just as praise-worthy.

  • Address: SR-05-05, Star Boulevard KLCC, Jalan Yap Kwan Seng, 50450 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur

The menu here highlights hearty classics prepared to Muslim-friendly standards without compromising on flavour or richness.
