In South Korea, it’s mandatory for men aged 18 and above to perform military service. Earlier today, SM Entertainment announced that NCT (엔시티) members Doyoung (도영) and Jungwoo (정우) will begin their military service later this year.
On 30th October 2025 (Thursday), SM Entertainment confirmed the enlistment dates for the two NCT members. According to the statement, both idols will begin their mandatory military service on 8th December 2025 (Monday). Doyoung will enlist as an active-duty soldier of the Republic of Korea Army. Meanwhile, Jungwoo has been accepted into the Republic of Korea Army (ROKA) Military Band.

The agency also asked fans to refrain from visiting the two members on their enlistment day due to safety concerns. With their enlistment, Doyoung and Jungwoo are the third and fourth NCT members to enlist in the military, following Taeyong (태용) and Jaehyun (재현). For those curious, Doyoung is a 1996-liner and has revealed plans to enlist by the end of the year. On the other hand, Jungwoo was born in 1998, meaning he enlisted earlier than expected.
Following the announcement, both NCT members shared handwritten letters to fans, thanking them for their continuous love throughout their careers. They also asked the public to continue supporting them as they complete their duties, promising to return safely. Doyoung and Jungwoo also signed off their letters by asking fans to continue supporting the rest of NCT during their absence.

Ahead of his military enlistment, Jungwoo will also hold his first solo fan meeting. The event, titled “Golden Sugar Time”, will be held on 28th November 2025 (Friday) at the Ticket Link Live Arena. Meanwhile, during the encore show of his solo concert tour earlier this month, Doyoung had mentioned his plans to release new music before beginning his military hiatus. However, SM Entertainment has yet to confirm the claims.
In related news, Taeyong will complete his military service shortly after Doyoung and Jungwoo enlist. We wish both NCT members a safe enlistment as they fulfil their duties to their country.
