Heads up to those living in Petaling Jaya and Cheras, you might be experiencing some inconvenience over the next few weeks.

Certain stretches along Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) and Jalan Cheras will be closed to help facilitate construction work for the respective MRT stations. The road closures will take effect from today (15th July) onwards.

The closure at TTDI will be carrying on for 2 and a half months, starting from today until 30th September, from 11pm to 6am daily. The junction of Jalan Tun Mohd Fuad and Jalan Damansara (near Pizza Hut) to the Indah Water Konsortium will be affected, but there will be 5 lanes available for drivers headed from Kuala Lumpur to the SPRINT Highway.

In the meantime, those coming from Jalan Tun Mohd Fuad and Jalan Leong Yew Koh (using the TTDI interchange underpass towards SS2) will have access to the SPRINT Highway using the LDP, at the Damansara Utama Interchange near the Police Station.

Motorists from Kepong will have to proceed through the flyover and turn left at the Damansara Utama interchange to get on the SPRINT Highway, while those coming from SS2 headed to Jalan Damansara (KL/SPRINT-bound) will be required to make a U-turn at the Bandar Utama interchange, then take the flyover at the TTDI interchange towards SS2 before connecting to SPRINT at the Damansara Utama interchange.

During that time, Bernama reports that a contraflow will also be implemented from the Pizza Hut to Entrance B of the TTDI MRT station. Those from LDP and TTDI driving towards the SPRINT Highway will be diverted to the opposite lane.

Aside from the aforementioned, these following junctions in PJ will also be affected:

  • Jalan Wan Kadir
  • Jalan Wan Kadir 3
  • Jalan Leong Yew Koh to Jalan Damansara
  • The underpass at the TTDI interchange
  • Jalan Leong Yew Koh to the LDP
  • SS2 to Jalan Damansara

Elsewhere, the closure at Jalan Cheras near Taman Midah will begin today till 15th August, between 11 pm and 5 am. During this period, traffic from KL headed towards Kajang will be diverted to the internal road at the Petronas Station near the Cheras Christian Cemetery and led back to Jalan Cheras through an exit near McDonald’s.

For a better understanding of the traffic diversions and alternative routes, visit MRT Malaysia’s Facebook page.
