With the Mid-Autumn festival being only less than a month away, we’re sure some of you are starting to panic, thinking about what to bring all your aunties and uncles when you go visit or when you meet them for reunion dinners. We get it, NOTHING seems to be good enough for them!

1. Grand Hyatt X Melinda Looi : ‘The House of Shí Wǔ 十五之家’

This Mid-Autumn, enjoy joyful reunions with Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur as the hotel collaborates once more with award-winning Malaysian fashion designer Melinda Looi on ‘The House of Shí Wǔ 十五之家’, an avant-garde mooncake collection that honours the traditional history of Peranakan culture in Malaysia.

This Mid-Autumn advent calendar is unique in that it combines a trip down memory lane with a Peranakan theme. The collection resembles an elaborate wooden building of a tiny house that doubles as a multipurpose box and includes a unique assortment of four traditional mooncakes as well as several carefully selected goodies of all kinds.

2. Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur’s Shang Palace : ‘Over the Moon’

The third year of Moon Rabbit’s mesmerising adventure, which is part of Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur’s celebration of the heavenly Mid-Autumn festival, will take you on a fanciful journey to learn more about the festival’s beauty. This year, the culinary team at Shang Palace prepared a variety of delicious mooncake flavours with excellent ingredients for every palette.

Find a beautiful selection of “Over the Moon” delicious mooncakes to share at a family reunion or to give as gifts to loved ones to convey love and best wishes.

3. Bake by Banyan Tree : ‘Moonlight City’

This year, the most recognisable images of a colourful Kuala Lumpur cityscape, bathed in a warm lunar glow, are projected onto an iridescent spherical gift box that holds Bake’s chocolate mooncakes.

Make a lasting impression with their selection of chocolate mooncakes filled with three different types of filling, which are made from excellent ingredients and created with great expertise. Additionally, the Yellow & Blue Herbal Infusion Sachets by Harney & Sons Fine Teas, a blend of chamomile, lavender, and cornflower, are part of Bake’s Moonlight City mooncake line.

4. Four Seasons X Jimmy Choo

Jimmy Choo’s custom mooncake gift boxes are the perfect way to celebrate this Mid-Autumn. It is housed in a circular, cheery pink box that embodies the occasion’s feelings of joy, fortune, and abundance. The exquisite mooncakes are handcrafted with the highest care and packaged in a special Four Seasons gift box.

6. Oh Cha Matcha

In lieu of the Mid-Autumn season, Oh Cha Matcha has brought back the Snow Skin Mooncake series with the addition of one brand new flavour. Snow Skin mooncakes by Oh Cha Matcha are a unique recipe that differs greatly from traditional mooncakes. This season, you’ve got the classic flavours such as Matcha Mung Bean (Matcha Snow Skin), Genmaicha Mung Bean (Blue Spirulina Snow Skin), and Hojicha Mung Bean (Purple Sweet Potato Snow Skin), in addition to a new flavour, the Gyokuro Mung Bean (Beetroot Snow Skin). Gyokuro is special as it is the rarest and priciest Japanese green tea available and its specialty is the aroma and umami palate that comes from a special shade-growing process in Uji, Kyoto.

Not far away, Pavilion KL is also hosting one of the largest Mooncake Bazaar, providing patrons the place to shop for all your Mid-Autumn essentials. To immerse themselves in the Mid-Autumn festivities, shoppers are invited to engage in the Lantern Riddle challenge to test their knowledge by solving brain teasers and riddles attached to the hanging lanterns at Centre Court. These not only symbolise happy family reunions, but also good luck and fortune, a tradition that dates as far back as the Northern Song Dynasty.

Catch calligrapher Master Lai Chong Sheong conducting Chinese Brush Painting Demonstrations on paper fans on 3, 4 and 10 September from 2 to 4pm at Centre Court for 100 shoppers a day to bring home personalised artwork this Mid-Autumn Festival.

11. Guinness Snowskin Mooncakes

The Beer Factory (TBF) collaborates with Guinness and Edelweiss for their limited-edition snowskin mooncakes. Wrapped up in a velvety black snowskin, Guinness Mooncakes set themselves apart with deep roasted flavours of Guinness and chocolate-infused lotus paste with an alcohol-infused golden bean paste centre, creating a rich and indulgent treat. The Edelweiss Mooncakes on the other hand make the perfect pair, with white chocolate snowskin depicting the snow-capped peaks of Europe and its iconic flower, bursting with the refreshing flavours of Edelweiss combined with alcohol-infused lotus paste.
