Famed Malaysian-born actress Michelle Yeoh (杨紫琼) has been serving up plenty of surprises this year. Still, not many could compete with her Oscar win, save for the sudden and unexpected news of her marriage!
News of Michelle Yeoh’s marriage to her sweetheart of 19 years, Jean Henri Todt, surprised and delighted many after she announced it at the end of July. Well, Michelle’s wedding may have taken place overseas, but it seems she’s planning on holding her wedding banquet in Malaysia.
The beloved actress reportedly will be returning to Malaysia on 16th December, allegedly for her wedding banquet which will be held in Kuala Lumpur. Many are expecting the banquet to be a grand affair, given who Michelle Yeoh is and her father, Datuk Yeoh Kian-teik’s role in the country.
Michelle’s mother, Datin Janet Yeoh had once mentioned during an interview that she hoped Michelle would hold a wedding banquet in Malaysia after her wedding. Apparently, she wished her daughter to celebrate her memorable milestone with their relatives and friends. However, some wonder if Michelle will keep her wedding banquet lowkey, as she did with her wedding.
The actress had reportedly invited close relatives and friend to Switzerland for her wedding on 22nd July, without mentioning why. Additionally, despite many having revealed her marriage earlier, Michelle and Jean had not responded to the news until a week later, when Michelle herself announced the news on her socials on 29th July.
Well, congrats again to the new Mrs. Todt! We sincerely wish the couple well and hope they have a happy and healthy marriage. Like many, we look forward to her return, hopefully in December for her wedding banquet!
