Everybody’s favourite Asian and Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh (杨紫琼) has been accomplishing milestones since the beginning of the year. Well, she recently achieved another milestone in her life, a personal one this time. Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh has officially gotten married!
2023 has been a very busy year for our beloved Tan Sri. From being the first Asian actress to nab an Oscar, to receiving her own star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, Michelle Yeoh has had a momentous year. And, she’s now adding to it with another joyous occasion; her long-awaited marriage!
It’s no secret that Michelle Yeoh and French motor racing executive and former rally co-driver Jean Henri Todt have been in love for almost two decades. However, what few may realise is that, despite their obvious love and care for one another, Michelle and Jean have never made it official; which is something that the couple recently decided to rectify.
On 28th July, Brazilian F1 driver Felipe Massa uploaded a wedding invitation on his socials, which immediately had fans in a tizzy. The simple card turned out to be an invite to Michelle Yeoh and Jean Todt’s wedding!
“We met in Shanghai on 4th June 2004,” the card read. “On 26th July 2004, Jean proposed to marry Michelle and she said YES! Today after 6992 days on 27th July 2023 in Geneva, surrounded by loving family and friends, we are so happy to celebrate this special moment together!”
From the photos, it can be seen that the couple made it a quiet and private affair. Only close friends and family were in attendance. Photos showed Michelle and Jean registering their marriage and cutting a wedding cake together. There were also plenty of photos showing their family and friends celebrating alongside them.
If you notice, the Oscar winning actress even brought her golden statue to the joyous occasion and placed it beside the gigantic floral wedding cake. Netizens were quick to congratulate Michelle Yeoh and Jean Todt on their marriage, with some surprised by how long they had waited. “Nineteen years of a long-distance relationship is not easy, (hope you’re) happy!” one stated.
There’s no denying how happy Michelle Yeoh looks with her new husband! We too would like to offer our most sincere congratulations and hope she continues living her best (and most impressive) life with Jean Todt, her love of nineteen years!
