Malaysian-born actress Sora Ma (马艺瑄) has always kept her private life under wraps, even hiding her husband’s identity when the pair married in 2022. Unfortunately, the star recently revealed a heartbreaking secret about her husband that she has kept for the past six months.
Sora recently took to Instagram to share her current marital status, revealing that she’s now a widow because her husband passed away suddenly six months ago. Her husband’s death occurred a couple of months before the birth of their child, Skye, who was born in early August. In her post, the Singapore-based actress said her partner’s death was very sudden, as he had no illness or signs of poor health before his passing.
The actress’ husband, Mr R, was a Singaporean businessman eight years older than her. The two met through a mutual friend in 2012 and started dating in 2013. The pair tied the knot in 2021 and held their wedding ceremony in 2022. Sora announced her pregnancy in February 2024 and then revealed her baby’s birth in August. Since then, the actress has posted about Skye’s growth, including his full-month celebration.
Since his death, Sora has been navigating through raising her son alone, adding that she never thought she had to do so. The 40-year-old also spoke about still being in grief over her partner, saying she hasn’t accepted his passing. However, Sora said her son has been a source of strength for her in the past few months. The former Mediacorp star also expressed gratitude for her late husband’s family and friends for their continued support.
Sora apologised for not disclosing this news earlier, asking for understanding over her silence. The public figure ends her post by saying she’ll continue to work hard to be a good mother for her young child.
