Do you remember that Sunsilk shampoo commercial featuring Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri’s wife, Datin Shahidah, as the model? Well, a clip of the iconic advertisement started going viral over the weekend in the wake of controversy involving one of the talents.
According to reports, the male actor in the shampoo ad was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for allegedly serving as a “middle person” in the distribution of government projects under the Economic Stimulus Package to selected contractors between 2020 and 2022. The CEO was detained last Thursday (5th January) and has been remanded into custody for six days from 6th to 10th January.

The video of the Sunsilk ad, featuring the suspect, has since resurfaced online, courtesy of Twitter user @FaktaBukanAuta. “Do you still remember this Sunsilk ad? A lot of people are familiar with the actress, but not the actor. In case you don’t know, he was arrested by the MACC over suspicion of sweeping around 3 to 5% commission from a government project worth RM92.5 billion. Just focus on the 4%. More than RM3 billion in commission alone,” they wrote.
The Twitter post has gained over 7 million retweets at the time of writing (Monday, 9th January). Needless to say, the news came as a complete shock to local netizens. There were also some who left entertaining comments in response to the post. “Didn’t expect him to learn something else (stealing the public’s money) at university,” one user on Twitter chided. Another said, “The actress asked, ‘I haven’t seen you at the library for a while.’ The actor responded, ‘I can’t focus on studying there, I was focusing on ‘stealing jobs’.”
As revealed by the same Twitter user, the male suspect also appeared in another iconic commercial for Fair & Lovely. It is alleged that he is Muhyiddin’s right-hand man and the cousin of Muhyiddin’s son-in-law, Muhamad Adlan Berhan.
