K-pop singer BIBI (비비, real name Kim Hyung Seo, 김형서) is currently taking some heat on social media over her controversial remark, which seemed to have sexually objectified women, during a live broadcast online.
The “Animal Farm” singer appeared as a guest on Calm Down Man (침착맨)’s Twitch channel. During the broadcast, BIBI shared that she’s currently gearing up for her upcoming comeback album. The live session surprisingly garnered over 6k viewers, right after she appeared.
After seeing the skyrocketing number of views watching the livestream, BIBI asked the streamer, “How can I continue to increase the numbers?” The singer then got up from her seat and lowered her upper body and leaned it toward the camera. It appears that BIBI deliberately wanted to show off her cleavage to attract more people to watch the live broadcast.
Seemingly flustered by her bold action, Calm Down Man then told her that it was not okay to show off her body during the broadcast. He also said that viewers will still tune in to the broadcast while they’re having a chat. BIBI then responded, “Don’t be nervous. There were many streamers like that when I watched online live streams in the past.”
Needless to say, fans were left infuriated by BIBI’s actions and remarks during the live session. Many of them took to the comments section to call the “Bad Sad And Mad” singer for allegedly disrespecting the Twitch streamer with her bold move. Additionally, she was also frowned upon for implying that women should show off their bodies to gain more views online.
One commenter wrote, “Women should empower women, but she’s implying that it’s okay to sexually objectify (others) for views?” Another chimed in, “I’m disappointed. She should have used her artistry and singing skills if she wants to get more views. But she’s exactly doing what other people think women are.”
On the other hand, there were also some fans who immediately came forward to defend the 24-year-old from the critics. They pointed out that they weren’t surprised by BIBI’s risqué gesture, as she’s well-known among the public for her candid and outspoken personality.
