Another K-Pop idol will be bidding goodbye to fans.

This time, it’s JYJ’s Junsu, who will be conscripting after he finishes his “Death Note” musical run. Various South Korean news outlets have also reported that the singer will be enlisting in the army in the first half of 2017 in order to fulfill his mandatory service.

Junsu will be starring in “Death Note” as L, and the musical is set to open next January. A source from C-JeS Entertainment has confirmed that “Death Note” will indeed be the last project for the singer before he joins the military, but explained that the exact date has not been decided.

The 29-year-old idol is currently playing the lead character in the “Dorian Gray” musical, which is ending its run soon on 29th October. After wrapping up production, Junsu will start preparing for his end-of-the-year concert and the “Death Note” musical.

Junsu is the only JYJ member who hasn’t entered the military yet, as fellow members Jaejoong and Yoochun took a break from their activities to conscript in 2015.

UPDATE (21st November, 4:45pm):

We’ve got bad news for you JYJ fans.

Junsu’s enlistment date has been decided. A source revealed, “Kim Junsu has been accepted into the 348th class of conscripted policeman, and has received his official start date. He will be starting on 9th February, although the location has not been confirmed.”

It seems like fans will only have less than 3 months’ time to spend with their beloved idol before he goes off for the dreaded military service. However, there’s good news too, as fellow member Jaejoong will be discharged on 30th December.

Fit and able men in South Korea are required to enlist in the military once they hit 18 years old, which is the legal age in the country. However, the maximum age of conscription is 30 years old, and those who do not serve by then will face legal action.
