Global superstar Jackson Wang (王嘉爾/왕잭슨) continues to break records with his new album, “MAGICMAN 2”. On top of becoming the talk of the town, the prequel to the singer’s highly successful “MAGICMAN” album had an impressive and historic debut week performance on the charts.
Earlier this week, it was reported that “MAGICMAN 2” landed on the Billboard 200 Albums chart at #13, making it the highest-charting debut album from a Chinese artist in the chart’s history. Interestingly, Jackson broke his own record because “MAGICMAN” debuted at #15 on the Billboard 200 when it was released back in 2022. With this new achievement, Jackson is the first Chinese artist to have two consecutive albums chart in the top 15 on Billboard.

Additionally, in its first week, “MAGICMAN 2” also landed at #4 in Top Album Sales, #3 in Vinyl Albums and #2 on Indie Store Album Sales. It also debuted on Spotify’s Top 10 Albums in the United States and topped charts in multiple countries. Released on 18th July 2025, “MAGICMAN 2” is the global icon’s newest album and serves as Jackson’s most personal and ambitious album to date. It’s also the singer’s first solo release after going on a year-long hiatus.
The 11-track album is written and produced by Jackson himself, with the songs touching on a range of topics including the music industry, society, humanity, family, reality. The GOT7 member himself revealed that the lyrics derive straight from his personal journals, saying that writing the songs felt like a detox. Despite the risk of being vulnerable on record, the album received critical acclaim. Renowned radio host Zane Lowe spoke about the album, calling it “universal humanity wrapped up in brilliant, modern pop music.”

In commemoration of the new album, Jackson also held a fan signing in New York City with Barnes & Noble. Fans wrapped around several blocks, highlighting the musician’s popularity. The popstar also dropped extensive interviews with some of the biggest publications in the world, reiterating his global influence. Additionally, his cover takeover across all of L’Officiel magazine’s imprints in 10 regions marks the first time the magazine has done an international cover story of that scale.
Despite the recent success of his new album, Jackson has no plans to slow down. Recently, rumours emerged that the singer may be going back on tour for “MAGICMAN 2”, sparking waves of interest amongst fans across the world.
