Ask anyone who has siblings and they’ll probably agree; parents do play favourites. It might not always be intentional or done consciously, but it’s usually easy to tell who is the favourite for which parent. Unfortunately, it’s extremely clear for Chinese celebrity Jackie Chan (成龙).
Jackie technically has two children. Jaycee Chan (房祖名) from his legitimate marriage and Etta Ng from his extramarital affair with Elaine Ng (吴绮莉). However, Jackie has never acknowledged Etta. In fact, this has only gotten clearer, what with the blatant differences between Etta and Jaycee’s lifestyles.
For those not in the know, Etta Ng is estranged from both her parents. The 22-year-old previously went viral for falling out with her mom over the fact that she had a female partner. Currently, Etta is living in Canada with her wife, internet personality Andi Autumn. However, it hasn’t been easy.
Many are aware that the 22-year-old has been struggling financially and recent news has only solidified that fact. Etta was seen waiting for free food in Toronto, with some commenting that she looked like a “homeless person” with her outfit. Others claimed Etta was struggling to make ends meet, despite holding a job in a restaurant in Chinatown.
However, unlike his half-sister, Jaycee Chan is apparently living the life. Jaycee recently uploaded a photo on his socials starring his friend’s Rolls-Royce. “Ghosted me the whole week. Finally, my driver is back online,” the 39-year-old joked. The photo showed a stark difference in Jaycee and Etta’s lifestyle.
The two incidents have since prompted netizens to remind Jackie about his daughter. In fact, many have flooded his Weibo’s comments section to ask the star to care about his daughter. “Your daughter is receiving food (for emergencies) on the street,” one stated. “Don’t (you) care?” Several also asked if his recent autobiography “我是成龙 (I am Jackie Chan)” mentioned Etta as his previous one did not talk about her at all.
Jackie previously referred to his affair as “a mistake many men have made”. However, beyond that, he has not once acknowledged Etta. Some felt Jackie should care for his daughter, illegitimate or not. Others pointed out that while Etta and Jaycee share a dad, they live very distinct lives.
