While polygamy is a somewhat acceptable thing here in Malaysia, the concept is still very uncommon in Western countries – which explains the surprise over singer Ne-Yo’s dating life. Recently, the R&B star garnered attention after a video of him kissing his three girlfriends went viral.
Last week, a video filmed backstage of Ne-Yo’s concert went viral, depicting the singer sharing a kiss with three women. While some sources claimed the three women were the vocalist’s wives, they’re actually his girlfriends. According to reports, the women in the video are influencer Arielle Hill and models who go by Pheonixx Feather and Bella. It’s unknown how long the four have been dating, but Ne-Yo confirmed the relationship last year.
However, his relationship garnered attention after the video surfaced, even prompting a reaction from rapper Meek Mills. In response to the comments, Ne-Yo, whose real name is Shaffer Chimere Smith, clapped back with an Instagram Stories post. The photo posted captioned, “Them: ‘NEYO WE DON’T APPROVE OF YOUR POLY RELATIONSHIP!!’”, but the singer was all smiles while showing off his shirt that reads, “Fun fact: I don’t care”.
As it appears, the “So Sick” singer isn’t bothered by the criticism about his unconventional marriage. Shockingly, it’s also reported that he has even welcomed a new girlfriend to the circle – a dancer named Bri. After his polyamorous relationship went viral, photos and videos of the two being intimate resurfaced on social media. There were also recent postings that showed all four women hanging out together.
Before he started seeing Arielle, Pheonixx and Bella, Ne-Yo was married to television personality Crystal Renay for eight years. They split after Crystal accused him of infidelity and fathering a secret child. After their divorce, Ne-Yo publicly admitted that he feels more true being with multiple women, saying, “Monogamy is for you. It’s not for me.”. However, he still supports traditional marriage values, insisting that he isn’t criticising people who prefer monogamy.
