Watches are more than just everyday accessories — they are instrumental tools meant to aid us in our daily lives. But when the going gets wet, these tools are sometimes the first to give way.
That’s why G-SHOCK and Swatch, two of the leading brands in the world of watchmaking, have created a pair of hardy pieces that get the job done, wet or not.
G-SHOCK MRGBF1000 “Goliath Frogman”
G-SHOCK has introduced the MRGBF1000, a high-end, full-metal G-SHOCK MR-G watch made for the ocean. The FROGMAN family of diver watches, which is renowned for its ISO 200-meter water resistance, now includes this titanium armoured watch.
The Conraua goliath, the largest frog in the world, serves as the model’s inspiration, hence the nickname “Goliath Frogman.” It transforms the amphibian’s imposing size and organic colours into an eye-catching pattern.
This watch’s exterior features an intricate asymmetrical design that was painstakingly created using titanium parts that were individually polished and finished.
In addition to unique buffers that strengthen its shock-resistant structure, this elaborate construction features an O-ring waterproof seal that guarantees exceptional FROGMAN water resistance.
Dura Soft, a comfortable and long-lasting fluoro rubber, is used to make the band. Its vivid green hue is inspired by the green Goliath frog.
A design intended to inspire the wearer’s inner adventurer is completed by eye-catching orange accents on the indicator hands and seconds.
In addition to its unique diving capabilities, the MRGBF1000 has the standard features of an MR-G watch, such as strong shock resistance and Tough Solar power.
The watch is perfect for travelling abroad because it has a Double LED (Super Illuminator) light that ensures readability in low light and can automatically adjust the time based on the wearer’s location.
The MRGBF1000 “Goliath Frogman” watch costs US$4,900 (~RM20,761) and can be purchased through G-SHOCK’s official website.
Swatch “SCUBAQUA” Collection
Swatch is getting ready for summer by going to the beach and revealing their new “SCUBAQUA” collection, which draws inspiration from the ocean’s undiscovered beauty.
With five watches made of bioceramic and other bio-sourced materials inspired by oceanic protection, Swatch explores the deep blue sea.
With its vibrant colours and textures, Swatch’s “SCUBAQUA” collection features classic icons perfect for adventures in the sun. The five watches have tinted clear dials, glow-in-the-dark accents, and 44mm casings.
They are available in black, white, blue, red, and yellow. Each watch has a distinctive name that honours various jellyfish species.
The “SCUBAQUA” collection, as the name suggests, is made for deep-sea exploration and is capable of surviving 10 bars of water resistance. The new Swatch collection is available now in-store and online for US$150 (~RM635)
