They say all good things must come to an end. After years of partnership and mutual support, it’s normal to see Korean stars leave the nest and embark on a new journey.

Within the first few months of 2025, several idols and actors have left their agencies, announcing a new start in their entertainment journey. From soloists to legendary idols, here are six Korean stars and groups who recently departed from their companies:

Baekho (NU’EST)

Earlier in March, former NU’EST (뉴이스트) member Baekho (백호) announced his departure from his agency, PLEDIS Entertainment, after 13 years. The singer made his debut in 2012 and remained with the company, even after NU’EST’s disbandment in 2022. Following his departure, the 30-year-old released a special digital single, “OFF-ROAD”, to thank fans.

Another star who left his agency after more than a decade of partnership is actor Zo In Sung (조인성). The actor said goodbye to NSENM following the expiration of his exclusive contract in early March. In a statement, the “Moving” star extended his gratitude to his now-former company, thanking the CEO and the staff for their support over the past 13 years.

In late February, K-pop girl group Weeekly (위클리) surprised fans by announcing that all members have terminated their exclusive contract with IST Entertainment. The group made their debut in June 2020, meaning all members left their agency just shy of their 5th anniversary. At the same time, all members launched individual Instagram accounts to stay connected with fans.

Of course, group members leaving doesn’t always mean a disbandment. In early March, Dreamcatcher’s (드림캐쳐) Handong (한동), Dami (다미) and Gahyun (가현) announced their decision to part ways with their agency, Dreamcatcher Company. However, the three members assured fans they would continue participating in group activities despite no longer being under the agency.

Junho (2PM)

2PM (투피엠) member and actor Junho (이준호) also previously announced plans to part ways with his label. JYP Entertainment confirmed that the star will not renew with the agency after the expiration of his contract on 15th April 2025 (Tuesday). Junho debuted in the company in 2008 and, in the last 17 years, made a name for himself as a talented idol and actor.

All five members of K-pop group A.C.E (에이스) also collectively left their agency, Beat Interactive, following the expiry of their exclusive contract in late March. However, in an unconventional move, the agency said the members can freely use the group name for future activities. The group debuted in 2017 and has amassed a loyal following in the last 8 years.
