Does true love exist? Well, Hong Kong actor Felix Wong (黄日华)’s dedication to his late wife Carina Leung (梁洁华) certainly made it seem so. At least, until recently.
Rumours have abounded lately, claiming Felix Wong has fallen in love a second time and has supposedly proposed to fellow actress Emily Kwan (关宝慧). While some might think it good news, others are displeased, especially since Felix once promised his late wife he would never remarry.
Felix Wong and Carina Leung tied the knot in 1988, and enjoyed a happy marriage. Unfortunately, in 2013, Carina was diagnosed with leukemia. She managed to fight it for several years, but in 2020, she passed away at age 59. Prior to her passing, Felix had reportedly promised Carina he would never remarry and hoped to rekindle their relationship in the next life.
As such, netizens were outraged when Felix allegedly proposed to actress Emily Kwan recently. Rumours claimed the duo had already started planning for a wedding and incited netizens to criticise Felix as they believed he was not keeping his promise to his late wife. Several also lambasted him for “not being able to bear (the loneliness) after three years” and for being hypocritical.
However, a few days ago, Emily Kwan stepped forward to address the virulent issue. Reportedly, when Hong Kong media asked for her thoughts on the matter, Emily stated she was “very nervous and waiting for the written finale”. Her words have allegedly made it clear that there was no truth to the rumours.
Felix Wong had reportedly been struggling after the loss of his wife. But, in September 2021, he was spotted having dinner with Emily Kwan twice in the span of half a month. This led to rumours claiming the duo were dating, which Emily had denied, claiming they were only friends. Felix’s daughter also added then that her “dad still misses mom very much“.
It is clear that netizens have no intention to let Felix Wong forget the promise he made to his late wife. But perhaps this matter should remain between him and her. What do you guys think?
