Durian season is upon us and that means most will be making trips out to the orchards to enjoy good durian. However, durian season also means that there’s a high chance of durians falling and the last thing you want it to land on is you!
A group had apparently been visiting a durian orchard when they witnessed some durians falling from a tree. Luckily for them, the durians missed them! However, they did hit a car and shattered its windshield. Needless to say, most were grateful that only the car had been hit.
A video was recently uploaded to the internet, showing a group of people in a durian orchard. The actual location of the orchard was not specified. However, it is suspected to be somewhere in Penang, thanks to the accent of a man in the video.
The first part of the video caught two durians falling from a tree together. Bystanders could be heard exclaiming as they watched the durians fall, only to land on a car parked right underneath. One of the durians bounced off the roof of the car while the other shattered its front windshield.
Alleged owners were later spotted checking the damages while removing the durians. One man pointed out how lucky they had been. “A durian fell and hit the car, (and) broke the mirror,” he was heard saying in Hokkien. “Tomorrow, (one) should bet with the car’s number plate, and bet hard!”
It is common for durians to fall during the durian season. However, as most supposedly believe that as they usually fall at night, the chances of being hit by a durian during the day is rare. Still, a durian orchard owner has disputed that, claiming it can still happen anytime, depending on the weather of the day.
Well, it’s certainly lucky that no one was injured by the falling durians! However, we do urge others to be cautious when visiting a durian orchard. After all, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
