Customer Forced To Buy Over 10 Caps After Accidentally Spilling Coffee In Fashion Store

You may have seen signs hung outside of retail stores that warn against eating or drinking in stores. The biggest reason for this rule is to avoid accidents where customers spill food or drinks onto the store’s items – like what happened at this streetwear store.

Facebook page Penang Kini shared about the incident, explaining a Malaysian had to buy over ten caps from a store after accidentally spilling coffee onto them. It is believed that the customer entered the store with a cup of coffee but accidentally spilled their drink onto the cap display rack due to their carelessness. The incident resulted in several caps getting stained by the coffee. As with most store policies, the customer had to purchase all the stained caps to make up for their mistake.

The Facebook post included several images of the incident and the coffee-stained caps. The post did not mention when or where the incident happened, but it is believed that it happened at a branch of MLB, based on the photos shared by the post. The Facebook page also did not share the total damage and the receipt provided was illegible. However, the estimated total damage should be in the thousands, based on the price of one cap.

Many netizens have since reacted to the incident, mostly saying the customer deserved it for going against store rules. While many were sympathetic over the incident, many also say the staff most likely have warned against bringing food or drinks into the store, so the customer should’ve known better than to go against the rules. However, others say the customer should be grateful that they now have new caps despite what happened.

Of course, food items aren’t the only thing you should avoid bringing into a store because last year, local singer Tomok had to fork out over RM5,000 after his daughter spilled nail polish in a Levi’s store. Let’s all use these two incidents to be mindful of the next time we think of bringing something spillable into a store.
