Many stars have lost job opportunities because of their private lives. Most recently, Chinese actor He JianQi (何健麒) lost a starring role in an upcoming drama and a brand deal after his alleged ex-girlfriend accused him of cheating.
He JianQi’s career began after he went viral for his good looks while working at a train station. He later made his acting debut, starring in multiple short dramas and gaining attention for his acting skills. The recent controversy surfaced after a woman claiming to be the actor’s “biggest supporter” shared a post on social media on 3rd March 2025 (Monday). The woman claimed that she and He JianQi are dating after they met through an unnamed director.
However, she accused him of cheating on her many times with multiple women. She then shared alleged screenshots of their conversation to prove their relationship. She also claimed to have a video of He JianQi “crying and begging for forgiveness”. She ended her post by saying, “Mr. He is a good actor, but not a good man.”. The post quickly went viral, sparking heated discussion amongst netizens.
Many were shocked by the accusations, while others expressed disappointment over his alleged behaviour. Unfortunately, the incident also impacted the actor’s career. Soon after the post went viral, news outlets reported that the 30-year-old was dropped from an upcoming drama by famed Chinese screenwriter Yu Zheng (于正). The screenwriter explained He JianQi’s removal, saying that the crew could not afford to take the risk of casting him after his scandal.
Besides losing an acting gig, He JianQi reportedly lost a major brand deal with a car brand. The brand reportedly planned a press conference later this week to announce the actor as their latest ambassador. However, after the scandal erupted, the brand halted its plans to have the star as the face of their company. It’s unknown whether the actor lost other job opportunities following the accusations.
