It looks like another member of TWICE (트와이스) is leaving the company. After much speculation, Chaeyoung (채영) confirmed she’s leaving JYP Entertainment while remaining a member of the girl group.
Earlier today (Thursday, 13th August 2026), Chaeyoung took to Instagram to announce her departure from JYP Entertainment after over a decade with the company. In her letter, the idol wrote, “I’m so excited to step into a new chapter and bring my new LIL FANTASY, a world where I can explore and build my music.”

Chaeyoung then thanked the agency and the staff for their support over the past 14 years. She also confirmed that she’ll remain a member of TWICE despite her departure from the company, writing, “Most of all, please know that nothing changes with TWICE. Everything I’ve received is thanks to my time as TWICE, which will always be my roots.”
Chaeyoung is the second member of TWICE who isn’t renewing their contract with JYP Entertainment. Earlier this week, Jeongyeon (정연) announced she’s leaving the agency and has signed with VARO Entertainment for her acting career. Like Chaeyoung, Jeongyeon also confirmed that she will continue to participate in TWICE’s group activities.
At the moment, Chaeyoung has yet to announce her next move or which agency she’ll sign with for her solo career. However, it’s also possible that the 27-year-old will establish her own label, as many idols have done. In case you’re wondering, the singer-songwriter previously debuted as a solo artist in 2025 with her studio album, “Lil Fantasy Vol. 1”.

Fans have reacted to Chaeyoung’s announcement, expressing support for her in her solo career. Many also said they look forward to seeing what the star has in store, noting her creativity and musical style. Some also expressed relief that she’ll remain a member of TWICE after departing from JYP Entertainment.
We also extend our support for Chaeyoung as she embarks on her new solo journey. We can’t wait to hear more music from the star.
