Calling all comic geeks out there, the coolest comic art event in KL is back for it’s 3rd consecutive year!

To the uninitiated, the Comic Art Festival Kuala Lumpur (CAFKL) is a creator-focused event local and international artists from various circles coming together to celebrate the “creativity and diversity behind the art of illustration, comic-making and related fields”. Comic die-hards are certainly in for a treat.

Led by the Sequential Arts Youth Society, a non-profit organisation that seeks to create awareness on the ever-increasing animation, comics and games community in Malaysia, this year’s event will bring a number of artist-dedicated panels including Japanese artist Tetsuji Sekiya.

Many of you may recognise Tetsuji Sekiya from the award-winning manga, “Bambino!”. The popular Japanese cooking manga not only won the 53rd Annual Shogakukan Award in the General category, but it also led to a live-action TV drama of the same name which starred Arashi member Jun Matsumoto.

Joining the guest of honour are a new wave of Malaysian comic artists (such as Abam Apam, VulpineNinja, Lok Foong, Minn, and Hwei) together with Singaporean comic book artist and illustrator Foo Swee Chin (FSc), who will be there to discuss how they found their fan base online.
