The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Line 2 is currently underway.
MRT Corp made the announcement yesterday (4th July) that the 1st phase, which connects Kwasa Damansara to Kampung Batu, is expected to be completed in July 2021. The 2nd phase, which would extend all the way to Putrajaya, is scheduled for a July 2022 completion.
Upon completion, the entire line will span a distance of 52.2 km, of which, 38.7km will be elevated and 13.5km underground. There will be a total of 37 MRT stations along the line. 26 of those stations will be elevated (15 of which will come with park-and-ride facility), while the remaining 11 stations will be built underground.
According to MRT Corp’s Datuk Najmuddin Abdullah, approximately 319,000 drivers pass by Serdang and Seri Kembangan daily, which often result in heavy congestion on Jalan Besar, Jalan Utama and the KL-Seremban Highway. “With the MRT, it will take 23 minutes to get from Serdang Raya North to Ampang Park,” he said.
With the completion of the new Kelana Jaya Line Extension, and inclusion of MRT in a few years time, we’re now seeing a huge progress in Klang Valley’s public transport network system.
