#FathersDay2015: 6 Fun Activities In Klang Valley Your Dad Will Appreciate

We’ll tell you why you need to take your Dad out on a fun activity in Klang Valley this Father’s Day.

Throughout your childhood, he was there to piggyback you. He was there to remove your first bicycle’s training wheels and taught you how to ride like the wind, only to pick you up whenever you fell and tell you that it’s okay. He knew how to change flat tyres, mend broken bikes, and fix broken lights in and around the house like a pro handyman.

In your eyes, he’s like MacGyver – he’s effortlessly a champion and he doesn’t even know it.

Dads are our true heroes and birthdays aside, there’s one other day when you can show your appreciation for the #1 man in your life. If you’re stumped for ideas on what to get him this 21st June, there’s no greater “gift” than an experience that he won’t soon forget. Whether it’s buying him tickets to a movie night out or treating him to a yummylicious dinner, here are some simple ideas to make this year’s Father’s Day memorable for every type of Dad!

(Heck, you can even bring Mommy dearest along and make this Father’s Day truly one to remember)

Thank us later 😉

1. Grab some popcorn for a luxurious movie night out

Do you remember the last time your Dad enjoyed a movie night out (or a movie day out) at the cinema? At times, they work so hard, they forgo the little luxuries in life like watching a film! So if he’s a movie buff, you might want to treat him to a film that you know he’d enjoy. But go all out and get him a comfy GSC Gold Class or TGV Indulge seat for a change. After all, whoever said that men don’t like being pampered once in a while?

Here, allow us to introduce you to some interesting Malaysian cinema features to enrich your moviegoing experience!

2. Treat him to a yummy meal at a place you know he’d like

Father's Day Meal

Food – it’s what we Malaysians are famous for. Toss a stone and it’ll land on a cafe, a mamak, or a restaurant. And even if it doesn’t, it’ll probably bounce off a random roof and, yes, you guessed it, land on a cafe, a mamak, or a restaurant. If he’s a foodie, then he’ll love being treated to a meal, be it at a slightly more posh place with a sprawling/unique view (it’s a special occasion after all!) or a casual supper at a 24-hour eatery (let the man “lepak” like a youngster, why not?). Didn’t they say that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, anyway? 😉

Here are some venue suggestions:

  • Dine with a view at these unique restaurants in Klang Valley
  • Best 24-hour cafes/eateries in Klang Valley
  • A waffle brunch/lunch treat at one of these places in KL/PJ

3. Is he sporty or a fitness junkie? Try keeping up with his pace!

Galactic Laser Tag

Dads are Dads, but they’re never too old to have a little fun. Sure, it’s pretty darn impressive that for his age, your Dad’s still a gym buff. But present him with a challenge this Father’s Day and see if he’s ready to take it up. If he’s the sporty kind of father, he might love activities such as laser tag, go-karting, a game of paint ball, or a trip to the batting cages. Better yet if he has never tried any of those activities before! Think you can keep up with his pace and his with yours? Try it!

  • “Galactic Laser” laser tag is located at both Mid Valley as well as Sunway Pyramid. For more information, visit their website.
  • “Raycer Powerhouse” go-kart is located at at the Elite PLUS Speedway Circuit, USJ Subang Jaya. For more information, visit their website.
  • “Paintball @ Extreme Park” is located at Extreme Park HQ, Jalan Tasik Selatan, Sunway South Quay, Bandar Sunway, 47500 Subang Jaya. For more information, visit their website.
  • “It’s A Hit!” batting cages is located at 1 Utama Shopping Centre. For more information, visit their website.

4. A staycation or a picnic for the outdoorsy Dad who needs a break

Taman Sari Hulu Langat

Does he love gardening/nature? Is he all about the “chillax”, outdoorsy vibe? Then he might love a staycation where he can be “one with nature” or a quiet picnic away from the hustle and bustle of the city. If he’s a working Dad (read: not retired) and he can’t get away from work for too long, then a peace of mind is probably just the doctor ordered. So, how about a picnic to help the #1 man in your life relax? It’s “personalised”, yet inexpensive. We’ve got some beautiful and scenic spots in Klang Valley listed here. For a weekend staycation, bundle him and your Mommy dearest up and head on over to one of these nature-themed getaways in Klang Valley!

5. If he loves a drink or two, introduce him to a cool (but secret) bar

Whether he’d like a gin and tonic or a single malt whisky on the rocks, or a martini (shaken, not stirred), this Father’s Day could be an excellent excuse for you to finally buy your James Bond old man a drink or 2. And you know what? He probably wouldn’t mind. However, some bars in town can be too “young”, rowdy, or noisy for him so perhaps you’d like to take him out to some place quiet where you can actually have a conversation. Oh, you know, to bond and stuff.

And whaddya know? We’ve found some speakeasy bars in Kuala Lumpur that are perfect for the occasion so check ’em out here.

6. Fishing with Dad, because there’s nothing more serene

Source: http://sportfishin.asia/

We know, we know, it’s such a traditional and “boring” activity. But ask a person who loves fishing and they’ll tell you that the activity provides them with time to unwind from the pressures of life and that it’s a great way to “unplug” from daily stress, relax, and simply have fun. In Malaysia, fishing is not limited to only land-based activities. If you’d like, you can even charter a boat and set out to go fishing at the rivers, lakes, mangrove forests, or at sea. This site has a pretty good variety of fishing spots in Malaysia e.g. Port Klang, Sepang, Puchong, Rawang. The things we do for our Dads, eh? 😉

Have a great Father’s Day celebration, you guys! If you have any interesting activities to share with us too, we’re totally open to adding them to the above list. Leave a comment in the comments box below and we’ll see to it.
