Want a quick getaway but too tight on budget to afford a holiday? Take your family, friends, or loved ones on an interesting outing instead.

Whether you’re craving for lush green landscapes, a breath of fresh air, and scenic views, or if you’re a cityslicker who just wants a great place to hangout at for a few hours without being too far away from the concrete jungle, we’ve got some suggestions for you – 7 suggestions, in fact 😉

Picnic Spots In Klang Valley

Sometimes, great outings are all about a small group of great company at a beautiful places, and it doesn’t even need to be an expensive affair. All you need is perhaps some drinks and a variety of sandwiches. It’s true! As such, we’ve narrowed down some beautiful and scenic picnic spots in Klang Valley that you could use (read: park yourselves at) as a fun, unorthodox way to spend your weekend this weekend, or the next, or the next.

You get the idea.

Sentul Park, KLPAC

Sentul Park, a mix of open grassy spaces and jungle-like nooks is part of the Sentul West development in Kuala Lumpur by YTL Land & Development Bhd. The spaces even have names like South Gardens, Central Lake, East Fields and West Fields, which creates an oasis of calm amidst the concrete jungle that surrounds it. If you’re looking for the perfect picnic getaway in the concrete jungle of the city, the Sentul Park is one such place. Hidden from the capital’s chaos, it has dense woods on all sides, with well-tended pathways. Its ponds are teeming with fish and terrapins, and on good days, you might even see cranes drinking there.

Kanching Rainforest Waterfall, Kanching Forest Reserve

A picnic by a waterfall could be just the thing you need to shake off the stress from a week-long of gruelling work. The question is, where does on find a waterfall in Klang Valley? 3 words: The Kanching Rainforest Waterfall. Situated at the Kanching Forest Reserve, the well maintained recreation park is located off the trunk road to Ipoh, between Selayang and Rawang. Its close proximity to the city makes this forest park a very popular spot for not only picnics, but also camping, swimming, and jungle walking especially during weekends. The park is also popular with photographers who like to try out their talents, so remember to bring your camera with you too!

Titiwangsa Lake Garden, Kuala Lumpur

Believe it or not, there’s a sanctuary located just beside the busy Jalan Tun Razak in the heart of Kuala Lumpur – the Titiwangsa Lake Garden. It is a park is conveniently located near a horse-riding facility and a radio control car racing track. Don’t feel like driving to your R&R picnic spot? No sweat! Being so close to the city means that it can even be accessed through the Titiwangsa LRT and Monorail stations. And rest assured, there’s ample space to spread out a mat or a blanket and soak in the sights of the park, such as the lake surrounded by jogging trails. Talk about zen.

Taman Rimba Kiara, Taman Tun Dr Ismail

Nestled in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (not too far away from 1 Utama Shopping Centre), Taman Rimba Kiara is hidden from plain sight and, for the first-timer, it is easy to miss the park’s signboard. But once you find it, you’ll discover that it’s home to some jogging trails shaded by a canopy of tress. In the past, the park even played host to food events such as the Foodgasm Fest 2.0 last year. So, yes, it’s nothing new – just undiscovered for the most if it. Grab a bench, picnic away, and savour what Mother Nature has to offer at Taman Rimba Kiara!

Desa ParkCity, Kuala Lumpur

Desa ParkCity, Kuala Lumpur, covering 473 acres of prime freehold land, is one of the fastest growing and best-selling master planned communities in the city. But the best part is that while it’s home to hundreds of households, Desa ParkCity is also home to its very own Central Park, a private park with well-kept lawns and a beautiful lake that is open to the public. If, all at the same time, you’re a dog lover, then you’re in luck because the Central Park is also a canine-friendly space that provides dog waste disposal bags for you to clean up after your furkid(s). Time to take your furkid(s) for a picnic? We think so!

Kepong Metropolitan Park, Kepong

The Kepong Metropolitan Park, located at the Northern end of Jinjang, is famous among locals for the kite flying activities. The ideal place for kite enthusiasts, there is a huge field that runs parallel to the main road in the park that is specifically for this purpose. Most barriers and trees have been removed to ensure a clearance of at least 100m for the kites to take off. Located near the MRR2 Highway, the Kepong Metropolitan Park is also the perfect spot to lay out a mat and have some good food. Other facilities at the park include a remote control car track, a cycling track, a football field, a boathouse and aquatic activities, a viewing tower, playground, and pavilion.

Taman Pertanian Bukit Cahaya, Shah Alam

There are many things to love about the Taman Pertanian (Botanical Garden) Bukit Cahaya. For starters, it houses parks, gardens, dams, lakes, villages, and even chalets, and the best part of all is that it’s located in Shah Alam district. With various spaces to offer within its lush green surroundings, you can be sure that it’s famed for a spot for all sort of activities such as cycling, jogging, as well as picnics! But it’s not free through – the entrance fee will cost adults (12 years old and above) RM3, children (6 – 11 years old) RM1, and senior citizens (above 55 years old) FOC. Totally worth it as it’s only a small entry fee for a fun day out with your loved ones, we say.
