Can’t get away from school, work, or home for an extended period of time but desperately need to catch a break? Want to get away from it all but want to do more than just going to the nearest cinema to catch the latest flick or hang out at a cafe? Fret not. There are some pretty quiet retreats for you to make a quick dash to if you want a peace of mind – all located within the Klang Valley area! And the best part is that most of these getaways are surrounded by lush nature or built with nature in mind.

We’ve found 5 pretty awesome retreats that you can totally hide out at over a weekend. Heck, you can even do it for 5 weekends (since there are 5 to choose from and all) if you’d like.

We won’t judge 😉

1. Taman Sari, Hulu Langat

Taman Sari Hulu Langat

Venture 45 minutes’ drive away from Kuala Lumpur and you’ll find yourself an oasis of calm at Taman Sari in Hulu Langat, with fresh air and greenery to recharge you, mind, body and soul. At Taman Sari, they offer a unique retreat experience with bed and breakfast for those who love open air, gardens, and a natural environment with a breathtaking view. The retreat is located close to a village where time has almost stood still, where you can sample local cuisine in the village or go exploring the rivers and waterfalls that are famous with city folk during the weekend.

Taman Sari is located at: Pekan Batu 18, 43100, Malaysia

There’s even a fishing pond, a viewing deck, and also BBQ sets for your cooking needs.

The Templer Park Rainforest Retreat is located at: No 23, Jalan 3/2, Templer Heights, Templer Park, Rawang

The Bamboo Village has a selection of bungalow, cottage, dorms, and event tents complete with standard hotel amenities and facilities such as Wi-Fi (in public areas), refrigerator, shower, complimentary bottled water, and more. It’s the perfect quiet retreat to “disengage” from the hustle and bustle of the city.

From the people who brought you the Sekeping Serendah Retreat, Sekeping Tenggiri is probably closer to home. It’s an intimate and relaxing getaway guesthouse accommodation in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur. Sure, it looks like an unfinished house at the final stage of its construction complete with unpainted walls, but perhaps it’s its rawness that truly exudes charm. By utilising a lot of glass and windows, the space inside Sekeping Tenggiri is perpetually flooded with natural light during the day. You might find it refreshing to bask in for a weekend, just to get your mind off mundane work stress.

Sekeping Tenggiri is located at: 48 Jalan Tenggiri, Taman Weng Lock, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur 59100
