For Muslims, a mosque or masjid is not only a place of prayer but also a space for learning and socialising. However, although not forbidden, concerns have been raised about children playing around the buildings, with fears that they may disturb others or accidentally damage something.

Some families will take turns to pray and look after their young children, while others chose not to bring their kids to the mosque to avoid causing any inconvenience to others. But what if a mosque provided a safe space for children to play, allowing parents to worry less?

Dakwah Centre, also known as Masjid MADAD, has been gaining attention recently. This mosque, located in Sungai Petani, Kedah, has caught the eye of many due to its indoor playground. The large centre, named Edukidz, features lit slides, a ball pit, and interactive screens, similar to those found in shopping centres.

One visitor posted on TikTok about their recent visit to Masjid MADAD, showcasing the impressive facility. Not only does Masjid MADAD feature a large indoor playground, but it also has a horse stable where visitors can interact with the animals. If you’re wondering whether you can drop off your children for free while you go and pray, sadly, you would still need to pay to use the facility.

However, according to the Halal Xplorer Malaysia Facebook page, the entry fee for the playground is only RM19.90 for children. The page’s admin also revealed that this is just Phase 1 of the playground development, with plans to extend it further.

Netizens were amazed by the Masjid MADAD playground. Many jokingly asked if it was appropriate for adults to be seen playing at the centre, while others were glad that such a space existed to help encourage children to visit the mosque often.

Of course, some expressed concerns that the playground might be too distracting, as a mosque is meant to be a place for prayer and learning. In response, others argued that having a safe space for children is beneficial, allowing parents to focus on their prayers.

If you’re planning a trip to Kedah, how about paying Masjid MADAD a visit? Details are as follows:

  • Operating hours: 6:30am – 10:30pm
  • Address: JFX7+2Q, Kampung Telok, 08000 Sungai Petani, Kedah
  • Pricing: RM19.90 for Children. Free for parents/caretakers
