We’re back in Manila again (because we just can’t get enough of this city!). Previously, we discussed the historical adventures you could have in the Philippine capital, and highlighted museums and colonial sites, among other destinations.
However, if you’re looking for something exciting – something that connects you to the pulse of modern-day Manila – then here’s the list for you. From gastronomical delights to the pinnacle of luxury, here are what you need to experience when you’re in the Philippine capital.
BGC
When it comes to bar-hopping and clubs, the first thing Filipinos often think of is BGC. Bonifacio Global City is the central business district and one of the major financial hubs in Metro Manila, Thus, you are guaranteed a clean area with minimal crime. As mentioned earlier, it is the home of many bars, clubs, and restaurants. Pair this up with a tonne of talented chefs and mixologists, and you’ll be in for the culinary delights of your life. However, if the nightlife isn’t for you, then you are also welcome to try out BGC’s extensive list of malls, such as One Bonifacio High Street, Uptown Mall, Market Market, and more.
Binondo
If you are a foodie and you’re looking for some Chinese food to tickle taste buds with, then we have the place for you. Binodo is the home of many booming stalls and restaurants, ranging from the very small to massive multi-storey eateries. Being the oldest Chinatown in the world (established in 1594), it is the easiest place to find exquisite delicacies, ranging from authentic Chinese cuisine dating back hundreds of years to new, experimental blends with Filipino meals that both locals and tourists enjoy. However, the nightlife isn’t the same as BGC, so try not to go out after 5pm.
Enchanted Kingdom
Now it’s time to explore something that’ll give you that adrenaline rush you’re looking for. It’s not Disneyland, but you’re still guaranteed to have a blast in the Philippines’ very own Enchanted Kingdom (EK). For almost 30 years, EK has been the go-to destination for groups of friends or a lively family, as it is absolutely packed with attractions that can be enjoyed across all ages. From Space Shuttle and Anchors Away all the way to Flying Fiesta and Swan Lake and even a small paintball field, it has everything for everyone.
Manila Zoo
If you’re hankering for something similar to EK but with a touch of wildlife, then check out Manila Zoo. This establishment is home to more than 550 specimens, comprising 13 species of mammal, 38 species of avian, and 21 species of reptile. Though it may not seem a lot compared to other zoos, the area also doubles as a botanical garden and is currently housing 10,000 plants. The zoo has been active for 65 years and had a massive renovation recently, so it’s almost a no-brainer to check it out.
Solaire Resort & Casino
For those wanting to kick back, put up their feet and enjoy life in the lap of luxury, Solaire is the ultimate staycation destination. This resort and casino is a massive entertainment complex, filled to the brim with activities for you to enjoy. From various buffets and restaurants from all walks of life, to skybars, and pool cafes – they have it all. And if you’re lucky or have planned it in advance, you can catch the thrilling musicals presented in their very own in-house theatre.
