It should be widely known by now that Malaysian-born comedian Nigel Ng, famously known for his alter ego Uncle Roger, has opened up his first-ever restaurant in Pavilion KL. In celebration of the establishment’s opening, he even broke the Guinness World Record for the Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Uncle Roger.

Many have dined in to try the various fried rice dishes offered at the newly-opened restaurant. Of course, it’s only natural for some of these customers and reviewers to compare the celeb’s fried rice dishes to another popular eatery in Malaysia. Let’s find out which one is the best.

Ever since Uncle Soon left a “bad review” of Nigel’s Fuiyoh It’s Uncle Roger Restaurant online by giving it a 1-star rating, fans have been invested in this rivalry between the two establishments. So, it’s only fair that some of them try out the menu from both restaurants and determine which one serves the best fried rice dishes. Let’s start with what people have been saying about the new Uncle Roger restaurant.

Popular TikToker @/scaredtodie or Jason gave his verdict on Uncle Roger’s fried rice dishes saying that the food is not worth the price. Another disgruntled reviewer, who claimed to be a guest on opening day, criticised the service as well as the food saying that roadside stalls and mamak restaurants are better. As for Uncle Soon’s fried rice dishes, influencer Ceddy recently dined in and shared that he loves the taste and would come back again. There were also a few netizens who claimed Uncle Soon’s menu is superior to Uncle Roger’s.

If you’re looking for a more fair comparison of the two, then here’s what some netizens have said. Facebook user Joseph Tan Eng Hong shared that the dish he tried at Uncle Roger’s was a “little too dry and the prawn is not super fresh (with that price 😂 Haiyaa)”. Overall, the customer said he prefers Uncle Soon’s fried rice. A netizen on Twitter gave a more detailed review of the food from both restaurants – listing down their ratings as well as the eateries’ strengths.

It is worth noting that Fuiyoh It’s Uncle Roger is a Muslim-friendly restaurant and is in the process of receiving a halal certificate whereas Uncle Soon serves non-halal food. This information may play a factor in why people didn’t enjoy one or the other based on the ingredients used in their cooking. In the end, it all comes down to personal preferences.
