Concert Review: Our Favourite Moments Of Siti Nurhaliza’s Concert In Genting

Dato Sri Siti Nurhaliza reminded us all why she rightfully earned the title of Malaysia’s No.1 singer. We attended the powerhouse’s “Love Is In The Sky” concert at Arena Of Stars, Resorts World Genting which took place over the weekend and it was nothing short of spectacular.

With the concept of bringing everyone on a journey of love through song and music, the legendary entertainer had fans on literal cloud nine, immersing themselves in her world as she performed many of her hits as well as new treating the audience to a few surprises. It’s safe to say that everyone wanted to remain in the clouds.

The concert started with a voice-over announcement by Siti playing the character of a flight attendant, who told the audience that we were preparing to take off to our destination in the sky, hence the concert titled “Love Is In The Sky”. The “flight” suddenly experienced turbulence as thunder and lightning effects were shown on the screen. Kicking off the show in a very unexpected way, the live band started playing the iconic intro to “The Phantom of the Opera” from the musical of the same name.

The audience was in suspense as we witnessed the Phantom chasing down Christine across the stage. When his songbird rejected his love as she made her exit, Siti entered the stage singing a haunting medley of “Jerat Percintaan”, “Wajah Kekasih” and “Dialah Di Hati”. Like the Greek mythical creature Siren, the singer had us all enchanted by her voice, luring us further into this fantasy world she created. Apart from ‘Love’, ‘Nostalgia’ was definitely in the air that evening when the songstress performed medleys of her hits such as “Ku Milikmu”, “Satu Cinta Dua Jiwa”, “Percayalah” and “Kau Kekasihku”.

The majority of the concert consisted of mostly medleys of her chart-topping love songs and we were overjoyed. With nearly 30 years of discography, we can only imagine how difficult it must’ve been for her to choose songs to perform but we’re glad she managed to fit in many fan-favourites in the setlist. Our personal favourite moments of the show were when the icon performed “Biarlah Rahsia” and “Bukan Cinta Biasa”. In between the performances, the 45-year-old interacted with her fans, making them feel right at home while they embarked on this journey together.

Remember when fans speculated that her daughter Siti Aafiyah might join her mother on stage? You’ve probably seen clips on TikTok and yes, the rumours were true. One of the highlights of the night was when Siti brought both her children onto the stage to perform “Nadi” with the 6-year-old musician accompanying her mother’s singing on the keyboard. While the singer was going through her second costume change, members of the audience were invited to sing along to the song “Purnama Merindu” for a special karaoke session, a session that the superstar hopes to implement in future concerts.

Siti continued to captivate the audience during the second half of the concert when she busted some moves with her dancers for a medley of “Engkau Bagaikan Permata” and “Indah Percintaan” without missing a note or losing her breath, further proving her incredible stamina. Slowing things down, the Chenor-born artist went down to the crowd while singing the popular ballad “Aku Cinta Padamu”. As soon as she got back on stage, the mother-of-two invited her niece Umi Umairah for a lovely aunt-niece duet of “Zheng Fu” and “You Are The Reason” before she proceeded with the hit Tamil song “Munde Ba”, the song she previously sang at AR Rahman’s concert.

Super Junior Concert, QWER Concert & More: What To Do In The Klang Valley This Weekend!

Malaysia’s No.1 singer has done songs in various genres like Pop, R&B, Classical Malay and even Dance over the years but Siti thought it’d be a great idea to shake things up by performing a medley of classic 90s rock hits like “Tak Mungkin Berpaling”, “Tiara” and “Hakikat Sebuah Cinta”. From that performance, we’re sure fans would buy Siti’s first rock album, should she decide to make one in the future. Just when we thought the show was over after a medley of “Janji Kasih”, “Demi Kasih Sayang” and “Diari Hatimu”, the legendary entertainer came back on stage to perform the encore “Destinasi Cinta”, perfectly concluding our journey of love in the sky.

Fans would’ve loved to stay all night long if it meant hearing Siti’s breathtaking vocals a little longer but sadly all good things must come to an end. We can conclude that Siti Nurhaliza’s “Love Is In The Sky” concert successfully had us all high in the sky and wishing to stay in the clouds even when the night was over. We hope to catch the next concert and we’re confident that it’ll be as magnificent as all her other shows.
