As you are probably aware, global superstar Jackson Wang (王嘉尔/잭슨) made numerous headlines during his stay here in Malaysia. Apart from his special appearance at an event in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, he kept a low profile, leading many to assumed that he had left the country after attending the event. However, some lucky fans spotted the idol in public and he even surprised one with a video call.
The GOT7 member is currently in Thailand where he made an appearance for the NESCAFÉ’s “The Golden Moment” event last night (Sunday, 4th August) and it was also during this special occasion that he explained the real reason for spending so much time in Malaysia. Here’s what he said:

During a stage interview with the NESCAFÉ “The Golden Moment” event’s host, Jackson Wang announced that he’s been working on his next album – “MAGIC MAN 2”. The idol said that he has written 18 to 19 songs for the album and plans to release it sometime next year in 2025.
It has been reported that the singer was working on the upcoming album in multiple countries since March earlier this year and Malaysia happens to be one of those countries. “I was just in Malaysia [to work on the music]. I started in Japan, then I went to Korea and then Malaysia for the last sessions,” he told the audience. Jackson then explained that the writing process this time around was different from the first “MAGIC MAN” album.
According to the “HARD CARRY” artist, unlike his previous projects, there was no planned concept for the new album. “For ‘MAGIC MAN 2’, I’d have to write from nothing. There were only 3 of us writing these songs and we’d have to figure out what the lyrics meant, and what the concept for each song is. The process took longer this time around, which is why the album won’t be out this year,” he said.

Although he clarified why he was in Malaysia for the past few weeks, unfortunately, Jackson didn’t really explain why he chose our country as the final stop for the album production. Perhaps it was just convenient since that he had an event to attend last month or maybe he’s collaborating with local producers and Malaysian artists?
We hope it’s the latter but for now, we’ll just have to wait until he shares more details about “MAGIC MAN 2” when the time comes. Watch the interview below:
