If you’re on the hunt for an exceptional dining experience in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, look no further than Sakana Japanese Dining. Nestled in the iconic Suria KLCC, this premium casual dining spot has been winning hearts and taste buds since its opening in 2020. With a perfect blend of authentic Japanese cuisine and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, Sakana has quickly become a favourite for both locals and tourists craving a true taste of Japan.
One of the standout features of Sakana Japanese Dining is its commitment to offering an entirely Muslim-friendly menu. They ensure no pork, no lard, and no alcohol seasoning in their dishes, making it a top choice for halal dining. Check out these delectable authentic and fresh dishes we got to try.
One must-try dish at Sakana is the Mentaiko Somen; a cold and creamy ramen served with mentaiko (which is basically a spicy cured pollack roe). This refreshing dish is perfect for a hot day, combining rich flavours with a cool, satisfying texture.
Another favourite is the Chicken Teriyaki, featuring tender chicken glazed with a perfectly balanced teriyaki sauce that leaves you craving more. The dish is served with free refillable side dishes such as their rice, soft-boiled egg and miso soup.
Don’t miss out on the Salmon Tartare, which comes with avocado and cucumber mashed and served with a seaweed wrap. This dish is a delightful blend of textures and tastes, offering a fresh, vibrant bite with every mouthful. For spicy salad lovers, the Wasabi Caesar Salad is a unique twist on the classic, adding a bit of spice and excitement to the traditional flavours
Additionally, we also got to experience two favourites on their menu, the Omega Roll and the premium kampachi (yellowtail) sashimi which both equally had an instant burst of flavour with each bite we took. From the uniformly laid salmon to the freshly cut avocado wrap inside to the freshness of the sashimi, these are definitely a must-order.
To finish off your meal, indulge in the Sakana Dessert Tower. This impressive dessert features whipped cream and matcha brownie, mozzart pudding with caramel sugar, and warabi mochi, providing a delightful end to your culinary journey. We also had the opportunity to try their delectable ice cream flavours: Hojicha and Matcha, perfect for those who love a sweet and refreshing treat.
Sakana Japanese Dining is not just a place to eat; it’s a place to experience the rich culinary traditions of Japan. With its commitment to authenticity and quality, it’s no wonder that Sakana has become a beloved dining destination in Kuala Lumpur.
