Recently, singer Zahid Baharuddin or Zahid AF shared the awful news that his wife Nurul Shuhada Osman lost RM4,250 from her bank account which is linked to her Touch ‘n Go (TnG) e-wallet app. In a TikTok video posted by the “Akademi Fantasia” winner, he said that it was suspected that her account was hacked through the app which resulted in the missing money.
“I advise all of you to not link your bank account to your Touch ‘n Go e-wallet app ’cause it happened to me and others as well,” he said. The company then got in touch with the celebrity couple to assist them in their situation but unfortunately, things didn’t go as expected. Here’s what happened:
Both Zahid and his wife have been in correspondence with TnG regarding the missing money and the app’s security issue. The company then released a statement to address the viral issue saying, “The linked debit card to the TnG eWallet app did not contribute to the unauthorised transactions in any way. Most importantly, we have strong evidence that the unauthorised transactions were all done on [Shuhada’s] phone and with proper authentication.”
Unsatisfied with their statement, Nurul Shuhada took to TikTok to claim that the company had threatened to take legal action against her if she refused to post a video thanking them for their help. “The case isn’t even settled yet, why should I say ‘Thank you’?” she questioned the request. She added that she has evidence that her money was taken from her bank account via the TnG app. Through her captions, the businesswoman insisted that many have complained about similar issues.
Once again, TnG posted another statement to clarify that they have explained the procedure to the couple and will take legal action against them for refusing to comply with the request. The 43-year-old performer then posted updates about the case in 4 parts on TikTok. To summarise, he disagreed with the company’s insinuation that his wife made those transactions herself as she would’ve just paid with her bank account directly rather than using the app. “So I asked them why is that their security system so weak that people can just hack into it?” he said.
At the time of writing, Touch ‘n Go has yet to respond to Zahid’s video regarding the case. Regardless of the outcome, linking your bank accounts to an e-wallet or shopping app always comes with risk even with tight security. Always check your accounts for any suspicious transactions over the past weeks or months just to be safe.

The singer’s wife’s claims after Touch ‘n Go released their first statement:
@brenda_za8 Halo kes aku bukan aku sorg saja kena..Ramai complaint report tapi at last korg blame pihak pengadu.. Paling penting touch and go blame bank bukan nak blame duit yg hilang tu dari account touch and go..Pusing sana sini sebab dia sendiri admit pasal kes yg kitorang upload, ramai tutup account and tarik duit dari touch and go..
