Celebrity entrepreneur Datuk Aliff Syukri is no stranger to backlash as he was previously accused of using cheap publicity to promote his music and business. However, lately, the responses from netizens have been more intense than usual.
The local millionaire was recently heavily criticised for his insensitive Raya music video prank and prior to that, many were angered by actress Ruhainies’s appearance in one of his videos amidst her ongoing scandal. It looks like the controversial celeb may be facing a possible downfall in his career as a campaign to boycott him and his company has started on social media.
Recently, UMNO Youth Leader Dr Akmal Salleh urged the public to boycott Aliff Syukri and his brand after he posted the Raya prank video which angered many. Since then, we’ve noticed that almost every post that the 37-year-old uploaded on Instagram and TikTok has been flooded with comments calling for a boycott.
As seen in the screenshots below, the comments first started after the “Badang” star posted the video with Ruhainies to promote his bag collection, but later intensified after posting his written apology for the insensitive Raya music video teaser. Since then, netizens have left nothing but negative comments on almost all of his posts, even on the one where he paid tribute to late actor-comedian Jaafar Onn.
If that wasn’t bad enough, Aliff decided that it was a good idea to post a video with Ruhainies’s sister Risteena to promote his new hijab collection. As expected, the post did not sit well with netizens who unapologetically slammed the businessman for always relying on his and others’ controversies and repeating offences to stay relevant.
At the time of writing, Aliff Syukri has yet to respond to the overwhelming backlash he’s been receiving for the past few weeks, however, according to one of our readers, he has turned off the comment section of his recent TikTok livestreams due to the online abuse. It doesn’t appear that netizens will be stopping anytime soon either. There is currently no information on whether or not the boycott has affected his business in any way since it started.
