Parting ways with someone or something is never easy, especially if they’ve been a part of most of your life. Earlier this month, many were saddened by the news that the Golden Screen Cinema (GSC) at 3 Damansara was closing down after 15 years of operation.
It looks like two more outlets will be joining the farewell party and netizens have found this to be very concerning. Here’s what they said:
Earlier today (Wednesday, 20th March), GSC posted an announcement on their official social media pages to inform the public that their respective outlets in Klang Parade Mall and Heritage Mall Kota Tinggi will no longer be operational starting from 1st April. Sadly, this is not an early April Fool’s joke. The cinemas will be hosting their last screenings on the 31st of this month.
GSC said that those who live in the two areas will still have the option to visit the Setia City Mall and the IOI Mall Kulai outlets to watch movies. Many were saddened by the news, of course, but they were also showing concern about the future of GSC after the closing of four cinemas was announced in the span of 7 months since August of last year.
Many took to Instagram to express their worries as to why there have been many outlets closing down in less than a year. Others suggested that the company was not doing well due to tickets being too expensive for most of their customers. Some suspected the closure of the GSC outlets was merely a case of relocation as it’s normal for companies to choose a more strategic and lively location to open up an outlet.
We may never actually get the answers to these questions but we sure hope that GSC could look into these concerns and perhaps address them one day to put their customers’ minds at ease. What do you think about all this?
