We often encourage our friends to have a wild night on the eve of their birthdays. But, it seems Taiwanese actor Xiu Jie Kai (修杰楷)’s night of fun got so out of hand, he ended up injured and at the police station!
The newly turned 41-year-old reportedly ended up in a brawl early this morning (6th March) during an outing with friends. The news surprised many, but apparently no one was more surprised than Xiu Jie Kai himself as allegedly, he wasn’t even sure how the fight happened.
Jie Kai and his friends visited a KTV (Karaoke and Television) in Peking City this morning after celebrating Jie Kai’s birthday. However, while riding the elevator, two people apparently got into an argument. While it was only verbal initially, after one was attacked by other, it escalated into a physical brawl.
Concerned, Jie Kai and fellow friend and actor Wang Po-chieh (王柏杰) stepped in to stop the fight. Unfortunately, this led to Jie Kai’e eye being injured while Po-chieh suffered bruises to his body. As Jie Kai himself put it later: “I was beaten for no reason.” All five men involved involved in the fight, including Jie Kai and Po-chieh, were then brought to the police station.
According to Jie Kai’s agent, he’s currently fine and resting at home. “Jie Kai himself is also confused as to how the conflict occurred, but he has cooperated to complete the (report) process,” they reportedly told the media. “Thank you for your concern.”
Reportedly the brawl had started between the late Taiwanese singer-actor Alien Huang (黄鸿升)’s brother-in-law, Sam, and a man identified as 陈亚豪 (transliteration: Chen Yahao) who is allegedly a member of the Taiwanese political party, The Chinese Unification Promotion Party, and supposedly has a background with the Taiwan triad, the Bamboo Union (竹联帮).
Chen Yahao later reportedly made a video, apologising to the public for the incident and claiming everything had been sorted out. “Xiu Jie Kai and I know each other, and we just had a little conflict at the KTV after drinking. The matter is not as serious as imagined and we have reached a settlement,” he said.
It’s certainly a birthday to remember, albeit a frustrating one. Xiu Jie Kai’s wife, actress Alyssa Chia Ching-wen (贾静雯) even flew back early from Thailand for his birthday so we sincerely hope they will still be able to celebrate and enjoy his special day.
