Taiwan-based Chinese singer Ding Dang (丁当) aka Della recently received news that she needed surgery as she was at risk of cervical cancer. But, her doctor’s reasoning for her condition left her dumbfounded.
During Ding Dang’s latest medical checkup, polyps were found on her ovaries. She was advised to get surgery as it put her at risk of cervical cancer. While she understood the need, she was shocked when her doctor claimed her polyps might be due to her lack of a sex life!
The 41-year-old singer admitted she had been nervous and worried upon discovering the polyps in her body. It didn’t help when she was advised to undergo surgery to remove them, with her doctor claiming she was at the highest stage of cervical pre cancer. Seeing her nervous, Ding Dang’s doctor told her that the condition was normal among women of her age.
However, she was thrown off when her doctor added it was also normal for women who have not had a physical relationship for many years as the lack of it makes them less concerned about their physical condition. Needless to say, Ding Dang was left dumbfounded, even more so as she has not been in a relationship for over seven years.
The singer later shared that she has been trying for a relationship, from working on herself during the pandemic to meeting six potential boyfriends since last year. But, unfortunately, none have worked out so far. With a wry smile, she shared that she attributed her lack of a partner to her “lively and boyish” personality.
According to her agent, Ding Dang is recovering well as she was treated immediately after the polyps was discovered. She was also not hospitalised as her surgery was a minor one. The singer is also currently dealing with an injured tailbone after falling off a stage twice.
We wish her a speedy recovery and hope she’ll eventually find a partner who is perfect for her. In the meantime, we’ll continue cheering her on and hope she’ll still be able to enjoy her single life without the pressure of getting into a relationship!
