Since its opening, The Exchange TRX has received tons of praise – and equally as many complaints. Previously, many netizens voiced their dissatisfaction with the parking fees – and now, they’re complaining about the prayer rooms.
Twitter user Zac recently tweeted about The Exchange TRX, complaining about their subpar prayer room facilities. In his tweet, he wrote, “TRX, your tower is as tall as the sky (but), your mall’s surau (prayer room) is as big as a grave. Not Muslim-friendly at all!”. The tweet points out that the prayer room in The Exchange TRX mall is small compared to the size of the shopping complex. He also added that those thinking about breaking their fast at the mall during Ramadan can reconsider, or they will have a hard time performing their prayers.

Zac’s tweet had many agreeing with him, sharing their disappointment about The Exchange TRX’s prayer room. Many complain that there is only one prayer room for the entire mall, which means the room is often overcrowded. One user also shared a video to show what the prayer room is like, which seems to have other downsides, like not being soundproof.
Others say that small prayer rooms are unfortunately typical with luxury malls, adding that the management only does the bare minimum when constructing the prayer room despite having other facilities. Some netizens also said that local malls should put more consideration into their prayer rooms, given that Malaysia is a Muslim-majority country.
The tweet also led many to compare the prayer room at The Exchange TRX to the ones in other local malls like IOI City Mall, LaLaport BBCC and even several AEON Malls. Many praised these other malls for their spacious and plentiful prayer rooms, adding that the facility doesn’t have to be fancy as long as they’re clean and comfortable for praying.
However, some netizens advised Muslim visitors to pray at the Tun Razak Exchange MRT station or the mosque opposite the mall. Maybe The Exchange TRX could reflect on these comments and consider upgrading their prayer room facilities.
